Michigan State baseball welcomed in Illinois to East Lansing for a Big Ten weekend series. Michigan State, coming into the series at 3-3 in the conference, was looking to extend their margins for conference play.

Due to weather concerns, the Spartans and the Fighting Illini were set to face off in a double header on Friday. Unfortunately for MSU, Illinois got the best of them in both games.

The Spartans held a 6-1 lead in the first game, but eight unanswered runs for the Illini pushed Illinois ahead, 9-6, in the first game of the double header. In the second game, it was all Illinois, dominating Michigan State, 10-3.

Michigan State will now look to salvage a game in the series when the two teams square off again in East Lansing on Saturday at noon.
