This year marks the second straight NCAA tournament appearance for the Spartans and 20th in program history. With a win, MSU could face host and No. 2 seed North Carolina State or No. 15 seed Vermont.
The Spartans are part of the same region as Big Ten tournament champion UCLA, which leads the 68-team field as the top overall seed.
MSU (21-9) finished tied for fifth in the Big Ten this season. The Spartans spent 14 straight weeks in the top 25 of the national polls before dropping out last week following a loss to Iowa in the second round of the Big Ten tournament.
Harvard (24-4) won the Ivy League tournament for the first time in program history with a victory over top seed Columbia. Harvard has won nine of its last 10 games since a Jan. 31 loss to Columbia. The Crimson are one of three teams from the Ivy League in the field.
