Interesting. I ran AdAware, Search and Destroy, they haven't updated lately but I still ran it, and CwShredder.
I installed and ran the Microsoft Anti-SpyWare.
It found eight items the other programs didn't find.
Pretty impressive.

I know most people are running this on their personal computers, but I read a warning that corporate entities should not run the Microsoft program because of problems integrating with large networks and internal systems. Just FYI.

An interesting aspect to this program is that it changed the start page I setup for IE,I'm a 98% user of Firefox but there are still some web pages that are not compatible to it yet and so I view them in IE. I have my start page set at My Yahoo but when I started it today it was on MSN.com. When I changed it back to My Yahoo a window popped up in the task bar stating this move as a potential spyware problem and is this ok to change your start page. Just thought it was interesting. :nono:

Now I noticed that the Pat Tillman Search Bar is missing on IE,so I tried to downloaded it again and this poped up.Emailed the foundation to warn them that it is being disabled when using this Microsoft product.

In general, you get what you pay for. I run Spy Sweeper ($29.95) and found it to be most excellent for spyware AND adware (just be sure to disable it, along with your virus protection, when gaming offline). Spy Sweeper is money well spent.

Stay clear of Spybot..... It won't run on some computers, and it does not offer nearly the protection of the better software. Free isn't always better.

It monitors all that so it will tell you when ever something is changed.

Pretty impressive program so far.

You can download it without verification...

I did, and it found one item.

It never told me of the change the first time,so that is why I thought it was interesting.

Did you run a scan and remove any spyware?

Something that seemed unrelated could have disabled it. I know sometimes things are fighting for control of those settings.

It is Beta software after all.

Thanks. I know. I got it and it found 9 items on mine, 3 of which were considered severe. 67 registy entries. My computer is running quite smoothly now I do like the program and the features it offers.

Isn't it crazy how spyware, malware, adware can screw up a computer more than certain viruses which are intended typically for that purpose.

Gonna download this and give it a shot. I don't like the test for "genuine windows" thing.

No, it's not crazy at all. They are designed to mess up your system so the company using the spyware can serve you up ads to "fix" it. On top of that the spyware is usually very poorly coded, so it runs even worse.

It's sad how many processor cycles you guys have to sacrifice just to have a functioning system. Your ISP should be filtering this crap out at their gateway.

Here is a article on this program and a few things in this happened to me : MS SpyWare

C'mon, you cheapskates!!! Loosen up your money belts and buy Spy Sweeper, as is indicated in the referenced article. Beta software is usually not a good idea, IMHO.

p.s. No, I don't sell software... :D
