My youngest is going insane. She calls them "Bedos" but that's OK....she loves the Minions and can't wait.

Minions

Release Date: July 10, 2015 (3D/2D theaters)
Studio: Universal Pictures
Directors: Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda
MPAA Rating: PG (for action and rude humor)
Screenwriter: Brian Lynch
Genre: Comedy, Animation, Family
Website: Minionsmovie.com

Starring: Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, Allison Janney, Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm

Plot Summary: The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's "Minions" begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, "Minions" evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters--from T. rex to Napoleon--the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he--alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob--ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock), the world's first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind... from annihilation.

Kids will probably like it a lot, but a little minions goes a looong way. Not sure they are strong enough to carry an entire movie.

I haven't seen it, but have heard from several people that they didn't like some of the "inappropriate" humor for their young kids/grandkids. My niece loves both Despicable Me movies, but my in-laws aren't going to take her to Minions or likely get it on DVD because of the previews and some of the reviews they have heard from others already. Too bad.

Inappropriate? I don't remember any inappropriate humor. I remember stretches of no humor, but not inappropriate. Maybe the torture chamber?

My wife and kids saw it on Friday and they never mentioned any inappropriate scenes and I know I would have heard from my wife if there was. They liked it.

Yeah, I saw it with the kids and we all laughed. It's not their favorite animated movie but it was entertaining, little Bob was very cute, but I honestly cant remember anything inappropriate.

The thong? I mean, cmon, that was just funny you got to be pretty uptight to be offended by a minon wearing a sparkly thong for comic effect.

I thought Sandra Bullock was a terrible bore though I agree on that. And I'm not a Sandy Hater, but man she was like totally flat.

Gonna have to agree with Chaplin here. This movie was horrible. I got restless halfway through the movie because it was extremely boring. Kids liked it, but not that much. The previews were the best part of the movie. Especially Hotel Trans 2 and The Secret Life of Pets. Those look pretty funny

My in-laws are pretty uptight. They definitely were not happy with the peeing humor (large minion with the fountain) and the thong-wearing Minion in the previews. Making it worse was this - a couple from their church saw it and said that there were more scenes than just what was in the previews which they felt were inappropriate.

They're disappointed because they love the two Despicable Me movies and let our niece watch those all the time. From what they have seen and heard they feel Minions is not only inappropriate for their granddaughter, but they have no desire to see it themselves.

I am not surprised, but it is a bummer because my niece love the Minions so much.

They were offended by that, but not the fact that all three movies involve senseless violence and are about being evil?

The outrage is hilarious considering the undertone of violence and mental abuse of the kids in the orphanage implied in the first two films. At any rate the film was not horrible. It was OK. The kids really liked it but not much there for adults like in the first two films IMO.

That makes two animated films in a row I have been disappointed in (Inside Out) being the other. Again, neither bad but neither great. They both had huge balance problems.

My MIL says the Despicable Me movies were okay because Gru's changes throughout the films. First film was evil to good and the second was good vs. evil. She said the third one looked like just evil for the sake of evil.

Absolutely agree.

I got a giggle or two for some of the "old people humor" (like all the English people having bad teeth, the Abbey Road/Beatles segment, and the general good natured skewering of the queen), but otherwise, just insert Rain's comments here. Not terrible..... more "meh."

Edit: 3D did nothing for this film.
