You are Minnesota and you are going to trade the rights to Terrell Brandon. Your options come down to:

Eddie Jones from Miami

Penny Hardaway from Phoenix

which do you take and why?

If I am Phoenix, I do this deal. As valuable as Penny has become, its time to move him. With the Lakers picking up Malone and Payton, we know this is not our year. We are over the cap and this is an opportunity to move Penny's salary. If Penny gets injured, we kick ourselves for not trading him when whe had a chance.

If I am BC my sales pitch would be. Penny can play the point. He's a great passer and a calming influence on a team (trying to keep a straight face here). Both players have a history of injuries but Penny's deal is one year shorter than EJ. Penny has proven himself healthy (his knee anyway) for more than a year now.

So whaddya say Kevin? Will ya do it?

I'm with you. Even though Hardaway is valuable, and the team is better off now with him than without him, he interferes too much with the Suns' long-term plans. I'd trade him for Brandon without a second thought.

I doubt Minnesota would do the deal, though. There have to be better options out there somewhere.

I would take Jones b4 I took Penny, but the heat have cap space, why would they wanna do the trade?

This IMO is the only small chance the Suns will have of trading Penny. They need to focus hard on getting it done...

BTW, anyone else notice that Bo dropped 45 pts and 6 blocks in the LA summer league yesterday? just loves to play ball, doesn't he?

I think I can pretty much guaranteed that if there was a way to trade Penny Hardaway and really improve the salary cap situation the Phoenix Suns would do it. But I think some of you are dreaming if you think a team is going to take Penny Hardaway and just handover and expiring contract like Brandon's.

A Penny for Brandon trade is not nearly as far-fetched as you might think. Its not as far out as say

Luc Longley for a first round pick and Chris Dudley.

Jud Buechler for Bo Outlaw and a 1st Round pick.

Besides, the pot can be sweetened (picks etc).
