Star Trek director J.J. Abrams tells TV Guide that he will be producing the fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.

"I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on 'Mission: Impossible IV,'" said Abrams, who directed 2006's Mission: Impossible III, but hasn't yet committed to directing the fourth.

"Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing," he added.

The third film cost about $150 million to make and earned $397.8 million worldwide. The first pic pulled in $457.7 million worldwide on a $80 million budget and the second took in $546.3 million on a $125 million budget.

Cruise needs a little more public relations repair before I see one of these movies again. His cameo in Tropic Thunder was a good start... now if he'd just let his wife see day light, he might be on to something

I think she was at the american Idol final. I am not sure if she was allowed to talk with anyone though.

It's weird to me when people won't see a movie because of the actor in it or whatever. If a movie looks good, I will see it, no matter tha actor.

I have trouble taking them seriously or embracing them in a movie when I know they're phony

I try to think of the character, not the person playing the part. To each his/her own.

Hollywood is 100% fake...why would someone's real-life "phonyness" affect your suspension of disbelief in a film?

Jeffery Jones is a child molester (or at least into kiddie porn) but it doesn't make "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" any less enjoyable.

I can't believe you believe everything you read in Star magazine. If his wife wants to see daylight then she should go see it and do as she chooses. Its called free will and she has a right to exercise it freely. If she stays in because Tom says so then thats her problem.

All of those magazines (Star, Us, et. al.) are run by publicists.

A celebrity doesn't appear in their pages unless they (or their publicist) wants them to be featured.

It gives credence to the cliche that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

If she stays inside and out of the limelight because Tom says so then that's her problem IMHO. He can request she is by no means bound to listen.

When you watch FBDO you're seeing him get the crap beat out of him. Who doesn't like to see a real life pervert get the crap beat out of him in a film? :D

Paramount Pictures announced today that Tom Cruise will be back in front of the camera for "Mission: Impossible IV," due in theaters over Memorial Day weekend in 2011.

Cruise and "Mission: Impossible III" director J.J. Abrams previously agreed to produce a fourth movie in the action franchise. But it had not been known if Cruise would star again.

Abrams will stick to producing this time, with the search on for a director to shoot the new installment. Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are writing the script, based on a story idea from Cruise and Abrams.

The movie reunites Cruise and Paramount, which cut the actor loose from a long-term development deal in 2006.

Hey, a Josh Holloway sighting! I thought he was actually still stuck on an island, or at least his career was.

Best action movie of the year, bar none.

Incredible set-pieces, the perfect touch of humor and a cat-fight. what more can a guy ask for in an action movie?

This should be the movie that puts Tom Cruise back on the map as a superstar. If it doesn't, he's screwed. That being said, this movie was more than just Cruise. It was the first Mission movie where it actually had a TEAM work together, where each character is given importance and something to do. Maybe it could have used a slightly stronger villain, but I won't quibble over that. The team was really fun, the action was really insane and it just kind of never stops.

Oh yeah... and see it in IMAX. The action is SICK in that format.

Did you see the Dark Knight Rises prologe? It isn't here in CT, wondering what people who did see it thought of it.
