Missouri State basketball guard Dez White, arguably the team's best player from this past season, became the first of what's expected to be an avalanche of Bears to enter the transfer portal this offseason.
Joe Tipton from On3 first reported the news, and White shared it on his Instagram page. White was the team's leading scorer, with 14 points per game, and made 37.1% of his shots from beyond the arc.
White will seek his third school in three years. The Jefferson City native started his career at Austin Peay under former Bears associate coach Corey Gipson, where he broke school freshman shooting records. For his sophomore season, he joined Bears coach Cuonzo Martin, who recruited White when he was head coach at Missouri.
Missouri State went 9-23 this past season, finishing in last place during its final year in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears' season ended in a 70-54 first-round loss to Illinois State at the MVC Tournament.
An overhaul of the roster is expected, with the chance of 10 or more players entering the portal and Martin replacing each of them before the Bears' first season in Conference USA. White's departure will likely represent the first domino to fall.
