Mar. 21—MITCHELL — The Mitchell Marlins hockey program netted four players on South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association all-state teams.
For the boys, Parker Denne was selected to the SDAHA all-state first team, while Reese Amick was selected to the girls' all-state first team. Amick's teammates Kenna Tronnes and Tristen Zimmer each earned a place on the girls all-state second team for their respective seasons.
Denne earned his first career all-state selection in his senior season, finishing the year ranked second in the state with 43 goals and 68 points in 22 games, also adding 25 assists to his line. He ended his four-year Marlins career as South Dakota's all-time leading scorer with 109 goals, scoring eight times in a win against Sioux Center (Iowa) on Feb. 22 to set the record.
Amick picked up her fourth career all-state honor in her senior year, but it's her first time selected as a forward, having previously been named to the first team in 2021 and 2023 and to the second team in 2024 as a defenseman.
Amick was second in the state with 26 goals and third with 33 points, picking up five hat tricks on the season. She intends to play collegiate hockey at the University of Jamestown (N.D.), joining her older sister Kelsey.
Tronnes earned her third all-state selection as a second-team honoree after being named to the second team in 2023 and the first team last season. The junior forward finished second in the state in points scored (38) and tied for the state lead with 20 assists. Tronnes also tallied 18 goals in 21 games.
Zimmer, a senior, was named to an all-state team for the first time at defenseman, finishing fourth on the Marlins with eight goals and 20 points in 21 games. She finished tied for eighth in the state with 12 assists, and is set to play club hockey in college at Augustana University.
The Mitchell boys hockey team finished with an 11-11 record in the regular season and came in sixth place at the state tournament. The Marlins girls ended the year at 11-10 with an appearance at the girls state tournament.
