BREAKING NEWS: Negro League statistics will now be officially integrated into MLB starting tomorrow per Bob Nightengale. This means Josh Gibson will become a MLB record holder in multiple stats.

As result of Wednesday's integration, Negro Leagues legend Josh Gibson is now the all-time leader in career batting average (.372, beating out Ty Cobb's .366), slugging percentage (.718, beating out Babe Ruth's .690), and OPS (1.177, beating out Ruth's 1.164). Gibson is also the new single-season leader in those categories.

Of course the biggest problem is that they're comparing 2,168 career at bats with 11,440.

I don't doubt that many of the Negro League players would qualify among the leaders with the required plate appearances (3,000 min, Gibson falls short with 2,526).

Negro League seasons were generally much shorter (70-80 games looks to be typical) as much of their schedules were played barnstorming and playing exhibition games.
