MMORPG Addiction? Try breaking it by opening a new line of credit!

If ever in the history of the world proper usage of the internet venacular "WTF" it is this:

Here's the skinny, apply for a Visa card and the purchases made on it can buy more playing time for the MMORPG know as "WoW".

My complaints are simple, first off the intrusion of advertising into my gaming life already bugs the hell out of me.

Secondly, I know plenty of people whos personality can be labeled as addictive and from a business perspective (Visa and Blizzard) it's a no-brainer but it still reeks of an oily and shady practice.

I play the game but if this foolishness continues I'll stop pretty quickly.

Am I the only person who feels creeped out by this?

what they don't happen to mention on that page is that for every dollar you spend on your card, you only get 1 cent towards your monthly membership. So, you'd have to spend $1,500 a month to play for free. I find that all the credit card "rewards" are pretty much useless, and this is no different. I stopped playing a few months ago, because I couldn't justify paying $15/month for one game which I didn't even play that often anymore due to lack of time.

There are some pretty good credit card deals out there. I have one that gives me dollar for dollar points and .25 per $1.00 on debit (it's linked to both) you get really nice prizes. Like a $100.00 prepaid visa card at 5000 or a round trip airline ticket at 20,000.

If you use your card and pay it off each month you can rack up rewards pretty quick

Yeah it is pretty ridiculous.

On the bright side, I've paid off two credit cards and will probably use my prop 301 money in July to pay off as much as I can of whats left.

On the negative side, another student loan kicks in in January. 250 a month in student loans. Sigh.
