Just heard on 910 that Capshaw and Davey were cut today. McCoy is out 4-6 weeks after thumb surgery for torn ligaments. Sorry this info has already been posted

I'm bummed to hear about Capshaw.

Look for Denver to pick him up, IMO.

No kidding, McCoy has impressed me the most this preseason. Hopefully he'll come back 100%

Actually, I'd say Troy Walters should be #4 on the depth chart based on preseason performance.

Therefore I hope McCoy comes back at 110%

I hope they put McCoy on IR and keep Spurlock. Just my opinion as to what's best for the team.

Why? Spurlock really has shown a whole lot of nothing in pre season. McCoy is only out for maybe 4 weeks which puts him back by week 3 with 13 left.

They may be very tempted to IR McCoy. That way, they could keep 5 WRs and open up a spot at LB or RB, etc,

In fact, I predict that is what they do with McCoy.

Releasing Capshaw now is a smart move...

He wasn't going to unseat Player and keeping him until later cuts just provides more evidence to other teams that it was a tough decision. In addition to the other teams getting more looks at him. This may be the best chance for him to be around for the Cardinals next year.

If the Cards really believe we'll need him NEXT YEAR, this is a really stupid move. If the org. thinks we can only get one more year out of Player, we should have kept Capshaw.

Ask the Broncos how hard it is to find a good punter. They're stuck with Micah Knorr until Saurbraun comes back from his suspension.

How long has McCoy's thumb been bothering him? Was this why he was dropping so many passes?

When the prognosis is 4-6 weeks...and it's a thumb injury to a WR, it's likely to be at least 6 weeks...can the Cards really afford to keep him on the roster that long?

It would appear that Troy Walters has been wrapping up the #4 WR spot anyway.

All logic would suggest that they will place McCoy on the IR to open up another roster spot...and now they will have to decide between Carlyle Holiday, Todd Watkins, Michael Spurlock or Greg Lee.

My choice? Spurlock. And sign Holiday, Watkins and (possibly) Lee to the PS.

Spurlock gives the team another slot threat and a good special teams option.

Unless Spurlock is doing something on special teams like playing gunner on punt coverage, I see zero reason to put him on the active roster. He's not going to be the punt or kickoff returner, he hasn't played WR at all, what is he going to do exactly?

Spurlock is practice squad or nothing.

Maybe the coaches tried to convince Capshaw to go on IR, but Capshaw refused. That makes it a smart move. We don't know what happened.

On the WRs.... Watkins not Spurlock is the guy going on the final roster if we keep 6.

I suspect the Cardinals were thinking opportunistically two weeks ago. They had an overabundance of quality wideouts and want to keep as many as possible. Why prematurely release any of them when you never know who might get injured between now and final cutdown time.

So - on learning that LeRon was suffering from a nagging injury to a thumb tendon - they figured: "Why not exercise the option of cleaning up that injury now so that, should he'll be 100% good to go for the final 14 games should we need him.

Meanwhile, we could keep Spurlock (whom DG likes and, like Walters, gives us another smaller, speedier home run alternative to the larger Fitz, Q , BJ and McCoy) as our #6 wideout, with the option of PS'ing him after Week #2 when McCoy figures to return.

I may be wrong, but my point presumes that it's harder to sneak good players through waivers near the end of preseason than it is to move them on and off the active roster (via the PS or from the street) during the regular season.

it was time and good timing for the kickers to be waived...they both should get a shot somewhere as they both appear to have the qualities to play....kenny king...what can you say...if your're running a MASH unit he would be a keeper...i hope he lands on his feet as well..outside of our division...
