For the sake of intrigue...and eager anticipation...the mock of the day (Monday) is:

1. New York Giants (from San Diego): QB Eli Manning, Mississippi.

2. Oakland: T Robert Gallery, Iowa.

3. Arizona: WR Larry Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh.

4. San Diego: QB Philip Rivers, NC State.

5. Washington: DE Kenechi Udeze, USC.

6. Detroit: TE Kellen Winslow II, Miami.

7. Atlanta: S Sean Taylor, Miami.

8. Cleveland: WR Mike Williams, USC.

9. Jacksonville: WR Roy Williams, Texas.

10. Houston: DT Vince Wilfork, Miami.

11. Pittsburgh: CB DeAngelo Hall, Virginia Tech.

12. New York Jets: LB Jonathan Vilma, Miami.

13. Buffalo: QB Ben Roethlisberger, Miami (OH).

14. Chicago: DE Will Smith, Ohio St.

15. Tampa Bay: DT Tommie Harris, Oklahoma.

16. San Francisco: WR Reggie Williams, Washington.

17. Cincinnati: CB Dunta Robinson, South Carolina.

18. New Orleans: CB Chris Gamble, Ohio St.

19. Minnesota: LB D.J. Williams, Miami.

20. Miami: T Shawn Andrews, Arkansas.

21. New England: RB Steven Jackson, Oregon St.

22. Dallas: RB Kevin Jones, Virginia Tech.

23. Seattle: TE Ben Troupe, Florida.

24. Denver: WR Michael Clayton, LSU.

25. Green Bay: WR Lee Evans, Wisconsin.

26. St. Louis: G Vernon Carey, Miami.

27. Tennessee: LB Teddy Lehman, Oklahoma.

28. Philadelphia: CB Ricardo Colclough, Tusculum.

29. Indianapolis: CB Will Poole, USC.

30. Kansas City: CB Derrick Strait, Oklahoma.

31. Carolina: CB Matt Ware, UCLA.

32. New England: G Chris Snee, Boston College.

OK...if this is the case...who do the Cardinals pick at #33?

Judging by the unsuccessful efforts of Graves/Green efforts to get a Sam LB, my guess is that it will be Karlos Dansby.

Easy answer: Will Smith DE Ohio State that many predict will go in top 15, I think you missed him.

Seven corners, six wide-outs, and two guards in the first round, and Will Smith (neck and neck with Udeze as the best DE) falls out?

This draft is insanity. Pick Will Smith at #33!

Ooops, forgot DE Will Smith. I actually had him going to Buffalo, but when I started switching picks I inadvertantly left him out. Was not intentional. Excellent observation, az jam, mao, k9.

Here's the correction:

14. Chicago: DE Will Smith, Ohio St.

15. Tampa Bay: DT Tommie Harris, Oklahoma.

22. New England: RB Steven Jackson, Oregon St.

23. Dallas: RB Kevin Jones, Virginia Tech. (Perry falls out of Rd. 1)

Thanks again, guys.

Matt Ware? A first-round pick? Teddy Lehman, too? Before Karlos Dansby? Cripes!

I think Ware's versatility will get him into the bottom of the first round, too. A team that has needs at CB and S might take a chance on him. Maybe Philly? Maybe NE?

I don't know. Every mock that I've seen has him going at the bottom of the second round. Too much of a 'tweener for my taste.

7. Atlanta: S Sean Taylor, Miami.

8. Cleveland: WR Mike Williams, USC.

Cleveland has the 7th pick - Atlanta the 8th.

This mock argues, rather effectively, that should FITZ not be available at 3, then a trade down with Cleveland could very well be the thing to do. Taylor at 7 sounds OK to me. And, if not - d'Angelo Hall... the Aeneas Williams of the draft.
