It was announced during the Yankees game that he was traded here for Prinz, Dellucci, and a minor leaguer.

well I would have liked Sexon - but that was a pipe dream - decent bat - mosnter arm - for guys (even though I love Looch's hustle) that I can deal with losing. Good trade - something needed to wake this team up right now - the last ten games they have been pathteic or more to the point - the way they bgan the season (hitting wise asnyway)

I don't mind this trade because Dellucci has not done much and Prinz has been given a couple of chances with the Diamondbacks but did not do much. Prinz actually has not been pitching well in Tucson. Also, with the pitching depth this club has, including Koplove coming back Prinz was expendable. Let's hope Mondesi can get this team going.

not sure MOndesi will help much. He isnt hitting much better then any of the Dbacks right now and has a whopping .157 average with RISP. We gave up about the ammount that we got.

Toronto is paying 7 million and the Yankees are going to pay 2 of the remaining 3 million dollars left on the contract.

If the Dbacks aren't going to even try to put a descent offense on the field they should just hold a fire sale.

Keeping Curt and Randy around with this offense is sad.

The team must really be in dire financial shape right now. I happen to disagree with the thought that one really good bat wouldn't make a difference. A player like Juan Gone or Sexson would add a lot to this lineup. With our pitching it's not like we need huge run production.

Maybe Mondesi can turn it around but it's more likely he'll be a right field version of Albie Lopez. It's like the Dbacks just made this stinky deal to save a little face with the fans, so it will look like they're trying.

I was hoping we could have gotten Sexton or Giles but that was probably a pipedream. Right now Mondesti is better than any of the other 3 stooges we were putting out there.

I think the Diamondbacks will only have to pay one million to Mondesi. If he helps that will be great. I doubt they will re-sign him after this year. Hopefully they will be able to pick-up a big free agent right fielder during the offseason.

Don't hold your breath. They'll probably be looking to cut payroll, not add to it.

I'm not real excited one way our another about this trade, I don't feel we gave up alot to get Mondesi, the sad truth to this deal is by adding him we just improved our offense which IMO is more statement to how poor offensively we have been, the question is now did we improve it enough to make a run at the wildcard, on that end I would have to say no.

Before the D-backs, when we didn't have a team, I was a Dodger fan.

Mondesi at one time was a stud. He was at the same level as some of the names bandied about in this thread i.e. sexson. He has tailed off about 10-15% from some awesome numbers early in his career. He can run fast and hit hard. He's exactly what we needed given the constraints.

If I remember correctly he was a great hitter at BOB. I can easily see him hitting 10+ homers the rest of the season. That would be a tremendous pickup in middle of gonzo, hillebrand, finley.

I've always liked mondesi, and now he is a DBack. He will be no Albie Lopez. Hopefully we will keep Mondesi and that he isn't just a rent-a-player.

Great Pickup, and one that will make a serious power impact on our team. Our snake isn't cooked yet.

Mondesi is a crybaby. He took a separate plane than the team last week because he was upset for being lifted for a PH.

I think it was a good trade... even if it's just for the short-term.

Yes, the bats are sleeping. And, have been since that amazing winning streak ended.

But, remember... this team is streaky. The bats won't be silent forever.

IF Mondesi starts supplying some pop, the rest may follow. And, once that does, along with our dominant starting pitching... look out. It could be a good run.

Delucchi was a helluva pinch hitter. New York is going to love his style. And, if he was pulling in top-notch tail as a D-Back... he's going to be in babe heaven in the Big Apple! ;)

Yeah, don't forget this was also the guy who pouted when he was with LA and stayed in the bullpen between innings one game. This new incident is classic Mondesi and seems to go against the "good guy" mantra that has been floating around the locker room here over the past couple of years.
Not a terrible deal, but it sure makes one laugh about the Durazo clubhouse cancer line which was used to justify a very, very bad trade.

I'm not sure on this, but if memory serves correct he has a helluva defensive arm. When he was with the dodgers he was considered right behind Larry Walker. But I may be wrong on this.

I think he still has a cannon. In the National League I would have him with Walker, Guerrero and Cruz Jr

Pretty funny how some Giants fans are knocking the deal because Mondesi is a clubhouse cancer.

This is another Mike Fetters, Albie Lopez, deadline deal. His highest average since 1998 is .271. We didn't give up much in this trade and got very little in return. We still have great pitching and lousy hitting. Joe Jr called Mondesi a "terrific offensive player" I want what Joe's been smoking.

I'll give you the "what" on the terrific offensive player quote, but look at the comparison to what we have right now. His numbers are a million times better than those guys already out there for us. Who knows, maybe he can have a decent couple of months here and help us out. It cant hurt.... what hurts is scoring 1 or no runs a game, like we already are doing!!!
