I think the jersey of every Suns player should say "Project" on the back. Tell it like it is.

I like the proposed styles, though, especially the white ones.

I'd prefer two colors only, but these would be a big improvement, imo.

agreed. I like the old English not really a big fan of the 92-93 jersey change.

Joe

Its Western font silly, not Old English. Thats why it works for Phoenix/Arizona.

The funny thing is, of all the uniform concepts and re-boots designed to capture the regional flavor of Arizona, the Suns western font is unquestionably the best, in my opinion. It's the difference between local and tourist; something you have in your home versus something you find at the airport gift shop.

The scale should be the original Coyotes logo at the low end and the 80s Suns at the high end. With the Diamondbacks in the bottom half and the Wranglers in the top half.

I figured so :) I just wanted to make the point that the font being Western is why I like it.

Its funny that a lot of fans seem to opine for those old uni's but I doubt the front office will listen.

I don't however opine for the original logo, its pretty boring and looked like clip art. I love the PHX bird logo, which is more or less a rip off of the concept of the old PHX Firebirds logo. I wish they'd switch the font on that to the Western font and call it a day.

Yes, the "hint" of new promotional uniform is the black one from the Barkley era during THIS season Only. As far as a brand new uniform for the Suns, it's been reported that the Suns will have a complete NEW look in the '13-'14 season. I'm hoping it will be next season rather than having to wait another 2 years though. Another hope is them resembling these rather than anything else (Especially the black ones....HOT!!!)

Does anyone know what style those Adidas shoes are?

I like the uniform worn by Marion in this thread the best. The black jerseys are not bad (Barkley immediately comes to mind) but the purple uniforms rule. I wonder if the Suns FO ever polls the fans on what they like. I bet the uniform worn displayed by Marion would win by a mile.

After hearing that a lot of ASU students were excited about the new uniforms, I worry about poll results...

But the Marion pic is the one I'd vote for. They are so good: unique and classic. Regional but without all the crap the Diamondbacks and Coyotes have done to be "southwestern" over the years.

I'd love to see the Suns go on a good playoff run in those and decide that they are good luck. Kind of like when the Maple Leafs kept wearing their heritage third jerseys in the playoffs because they were "lucky" (probably a random reference for this board, but still, a great sweater).

I wonder if ASU students had a say in their football team uniforms? I do not like many of the color combinations plus the pitchfork. Maybe I'm old fashioned. The Suns uniform worn by Marion back in the day is still the best.

I beg your pardon. What's "crap" about southwestern? I became a Suns fan upon my first visit to the Valley of the Sun in 1970 and relocated permanently 34 years ago, when I'd call out from my 40-foot pool, "I love you Arizona!"

What location should our teams identify with? LaLa Land? New Yawk? Miami? Chicago?

You may not identify with it, but the southwestern logo for our sports teams is fine with me. Just glance to the left and you'll see the beauty of it.

Whoa, you're completely misunderstanding me. I grew up in Phoenix and I totally identify with it. That's my point: I think that some of the things the teams have done to appear southwestern have been overdone and garish. Like the Coyotes' original logo, for example. I am in fact all for representing the region, but with something that looks a little more authentic and a little less like it came from an airport gift shop.

Things I've preferred have been the Suns western font, U of A's logo with the cactus, and the Wranglers logo and color scheme. Sorry if I explained badly.

Im probably in the minority here but I'd take the Coyotes old logo over their new one in a heartbeat. Those uniforms were totally absurd but at least they were unique, their current look is so bland you'd think it was designed in 10 minutes with the major idea being "make something forgettable".

As for the Suns, hearing they are phasing out the purple is a real disappointment. Not just for the "southwest" feel but purple and orange is a way better color combo than orange and black... which is hideous and only makes me think of Halloween and home depot.

In the last few years in the NBA we've seen a real trend back towards old school looks. Philly, New York, Golden State, Milwaukee, Utah, Houston, Cleveland... they've all taken aspects of 70s and 80s jerseys and colors and make updated uniforms out of them and I think the all look immeasurably better... except maybe Cleveland. Hopefully we decide to be slaves to a very good trend and come out with an update of our western uniforms.

Thanks for the clarification. "Regional but without all the crap the Diamondbacks and Coyotes have done to be "southwestern" over the years." Now I get it. 'Sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion. 'Glad to hear it's not a case of the bumper stickers we used to see, "Welcome to Arizona, now go home." :)

I hate it when teams change colors. The Suns are purple and orange--like BC's avatar.

The Diamondbacks should have stayed with purple and green. They won a championship in those colors.

I love the Coyotes new uniforms: one of the best uniform changes in the NHL in my opinion--but I totally respect your view as well. I understand how it can look boring if you want more creativity, but mainly I just think a two-color scheme looks really good in hockey (see Red Wings, Maple Leafs). I actually would have been okay with the old Coyotes logo in this scheme, were it stripped down a bit.

Back to the Suns, it's interesting how a lot of sports teams have started highlighting their lighter colors in recent years, when before their darker colors were more prevalent. The Suns orange instead of purple, and ASU's gold instead of maroon being local examples. It's always interesting to look at old crowd photos and see what people were wearing.

Yes. I think it would a smart move for a regime that fas been squandering the legacy of the franchise.

This. Love the old unis and they should never be changed. Like someone else said, the unis are just too ugly to wear. I would love to buy a suns jersey but just never have because of how hideous and played out they look.

They should make the black alternates their primary away or home jerseys
