Finally healthy, Derek Stingley Jr. runs a 4.37 on his first attempt at the 40. #LSU

ESPN ran a really cool story on the Stingley family and Derek’s connection to his grandfather who was paralyzed in 1978 when Jack Tatum collided with him on a pass. Derek Jr. seems like an awesome young man. He grew up in Baton Rouge and chose LSU to stay close to his family. That kid reminded me of Rod Woodson as a freshman.

Is there a chance he makes it to our pick?
Yes, there is a chance. Is it likely, I agree with Harry, probably not. I would rank the CBs
1-Sauce
2-McDuffie
3-Stingley
4-Booth

the thing with Stingley is that his tape over the past two years is average at best and he is not a very physical CB vs the run. However, his freshman year tape was great and he has a very nice athletic profile. He could go all across the first round depending on how high the CBs start going off the board and if someone values the freshman tape over the past two years.

According to Jordan Schultz, the Cardinals will bring in Coastal Carolina tight end Isaiah Likely. He is also scheduled to visit the Bills and Jets.

He’s probably 6-4 and 245 pounds. He can make plays in the passing game. He had 59 receptions for 912 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2021. His 12 touchdowns were the most by an FBS tight end.

Likely is more like a WR except he put on weight. Since he can’t block he’s really more of an H Back. He can can get open and catch the ball, but they’ve got that in Ertz.

He is 245lb, sure he can put weight on
I prefer having a tight that can catch and run then a tight end which his strenght is blocking
He can work on his craft and be a better blocker
Blocking tigh ends with average receiving skills coming in the nfl normally have little impact

Yup. Most either forget or don’t realize that Maxx Williams was a receiving TE coming out of college. After injuring his leg with the Ravens and losing speed, he reinvented his game.

I wish I had a nickel for every TE I’ve heard they could become a successful blocker. The Cards have had a bunch. Blocking isn‘t just strength and agility, much of it is attitude. In college Likely was a reluctant blocker that didn’t seem to like mixing it up. It’s like drafting a CB who doesn’t like to tackle. It’s rare they improve that skill in the NFL, where the opponents are stronger and faster. Many like to hurt people. Oddly it’s often easier to turn a good blocker into a decent receiver if he has good hands.
