This takes the cake, but with Society the way it is today, I guess it was bound to happen.

I'd like to see the NFL threaten to fold if this suit is won by the plaintiffs. Terri would have to leave the country after the name change and appearance-altering plastic surgery.

Tenn. Woman Files Suit Over Super Bowl
Associated Press

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Terri Carlin wants to make Janet Jackson's bare breast into a federal case.

Carlin filed a proposed class action lawsuit in U.S. District Court Wednesday against Jackson, singer Justin Timberlake, broadcasters MTV and CBS and their parent company, Viacom.

Carlin alleges that she and others who watched the halftime show during Sunday's Super Bowl were injured by the performers' lewd actions when Timberlake ripped off part of Jackson's costume, exposing her breast.

In the lawsuit, Carlin charges that the exposure and "sexually explicit conduct" by other performers during the show injured viewers.

"As a direct and proximate result of the broadcast of the acts, (Carlin) and millions of others saw the acts and were caused to suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury," the lawsuit says.

But Carlin, who works in a bank, doesn't specify the type of injury allegedly suffered.

"All of the defendants knew that the Super Bowl, the pre-eminent sports event in the United States, would be watched by millions of families and children," says the lawsuit filed by Knoxville attorney Wayne A. Ritchie II. "Nevertheless, (they) included in the halftime show sexually explicit acts solely designed to garner publicity and, ultimately, to increase profits for themselves."

The lawsuit charges that the broadcast companies and the two singers violated an "implied" contract with viewers not to subject them to lewd actions.

"Families have an expectation that they can trust companies and individuals such as the defendants not to expose families to sexually explicit conduct during broadcasts of prime time events such as the Super Bowl," the lawsuit says.

Another frivolous lawsuit that is nothing but an attempt at a money grab.

This thing will thrown out faster than I typed this post!

I'm all for this lawsuit. Within days Shaq's cussing during a live game and I saw a Jackson's tit. I don't care, but a lot of kids are seeing this and it needs to be handled. The extreme right hates that stuff and they should be able to watch the big three networks without being offended. The rest of us can watch HBO and FOX.

Maybe this should be handled, but not like this. One person trying to get rich off of this is ridculous and a memorial to how stupid and law-suit hungry this country has become. Everyone wants a get rich quick scheme and is willing to go to any lengths to get there. What ever happened to work as a means of furthering yourself?

Outrage? Yes. Anger? Okay. Embarrassment? Sure. Serious Injury? SERIOUS INJURY?!?! C'mon now!

Okay, let's ALL sue. People are freaking on crack, man. Absolutely and totally ridiculous. Amazing. Truly amazing.

McDonalds makes me wanna gain 50 pounds. Rap makes me wanna kill people. Metal makes me wanna kill myself. Video games make me wanna beat my boyfriend. It's my fault that the kid trespassing on my property almost drowned in my swimming pool. And Janet's boob causes me serious injury. GET A FREAKING LIFE, PEOPLE. GE A JOB, GO TO WORK AND PAY YOUR BILLS! STOP LOOKING FOR AN EASY WAY OUT. THERE IS NONE!

Geesh. Really. How can people live with themselves? GET OVER IT!!!! I am so sick of hearing about Janet Jackson. Rehashing this stunt over and over again is doing more harm than the actual act itself. Enough!

Okay. I am calm. People just drive me to drink. And, hey, work is now over so WOO HOO!

I was seriously injuried by a boobie once. But, truth be told, it was really more my fault than the boobie's; I missed the saftey guidelines called out at the start of the party and then yadda yadda yadda, I'm in traction.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, but maybe this is a good thing to reclaim the football game back for the fans away from this crazy crap surrounding the game. I mean, if it gets rid of the stupid halftime BS, is this such a bad idea?

You will also notice that the NFL, at least in the article, isn't named. Smart move.

Of course she doesn't specify damages because they don't exist. There was no injury inflicted and no injury suffered. A vast majority of people really don't care - in fact, seems to me the main reason people have complained is because someone else might be offended.

What?
Millions of uncovered breasts on the beaches of Europe and no one there notices.

One flash of a hooter on TV in America and you'd think someone was going to die.

This Terri Carlin chick must not be too satisfied with her own breast situation.

Hey look, I'm taking a peek at my own breasts as we speak! That's it! I am angered and ebarrassed by my actions.. I'm going to file a lawsuit.

Sure, Janet and Justin's actions weren't the most proper of actions but some people need to get a freaking life.

And the beat goes on.......

Maybe we can file this one under hypersensitivity?

By LYNN ELBER, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES - Janet Jackson (news)'s revealing Super Bowl halftime moment has created fallout for "ER," with NBC removing a glimpse of an elderly patient's breast in Thursday's episode.

The network said Wednesday it had "unfortunately concluded that the atmosphere created by this week's events has made it too difficult for many of our affiliates to air this shot."

NBC's decision was criticized by John Wells, the executive producer of the popular and long-running medical drama, who said such "affiliate overreactions" have a "chilling effect" on dramatic integrity.

In a statement, Wells called the Jackson incident at last Sunday's Super Bowl "inappropriate and deplorable on a broadcast intended for viewers of all ages."

But "the incidental exposure of an elderly woman's breast in the context of a medical trauma is not comparable," he said.

Viewers advised of a show's adult content are capable of "making the distinction and adjusting their viewing habits accordingly," he said.

"This type of network behavior is one of the primary reasons that so many of today's producers and viewers are increasingly turning to HBO and other cable outlets that do not censor responsible storytelling," Wells said.

In its statement, NBC agreed that the scene, in which an 80-year-old woman receives emergency treatment, is "appropriate and in context" and noted it would have aired late in the evening, after 10:30 p.m. EST.

But the network said it couldn't ignore the furor that followed a musical number in which Justin Timberlake (news) pulled off part of Jackson's costume, exposing her breast to 89 million viewers.

After consulting with its affiliate board, the network asked the producers of "ER" to remove the nudity.

The one-second nudity provoked complaints from viewers and an investigation by the Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) which, potentially, could expose CBS and its affiliates to millions of dollars in fines.

Jackson took responsibility, saying it was a surprise stunt that went too far.

CBS, which is airing Sunday's Grammy Awards, said it would implement a video delay system to avoid similar problems.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps they can replace it with scenes from the family friendly movie "Gladiator" that they aired without complaint last week.
