The headline on the right side of SI's NFL Homepage reads; "Giant Brandon Jacobs doesn't want Boldin". The article includes Edwards but it is interesting that for a guy that wants 10M a year we couldn't draw more than a R2 offer and it at least appears that he is being lumped in with guys that make for poor team chemistry.

While I think up until this past season Boldin has been a great teammate, the longer he carries on the more diminished that perception becomes. Walking out on the NFC title game sealed that for a lot of you but at this point he really needs to at least share the blame with the team for the breakdown rather than always relieving himself of any responsibility. If he has narcissistic tendencies he will blame the team for hurting his reputation with guys like Jacobs as he feels the team diminished his reputation but not really reporting his trade value when they claimed to be open to trade offers the couple weeks leading up to the draft.

He needs to find a way out of this downward spiral and if I were him I would focus on making it work with the Cards somehow where he can save face. Unfortunately I think it may be too late for that because he has backed himself in a corner with unrealistic demands and expectations. Playing out his contract may be his only option. How he resurrects or further diminishes his reputation is up to him. It would be sad to see him challenge authority, become insignificant and then fade away like Edge.

Vegas, baby, yeah!
If Q has the reputation among HC's at FO's around the league of hurting team chemistry, and that is hurting his prospects with other teams, the only thing he can do now is to drop the whole issue and start saying "The contract issue is between my agent and the Cards. I'll be at minicamp. I'll play 100%. You won't see a difference on the field with my level of commitment and play."

If Q does this before this year's minicamp, it will be old news by the time his contract expires. If he carries it and continues to bring up the issue, it will be a warning flag to other NFL teams, and may hurt him when he goes into FA.

Let me ask this question; is it possible that Q cost us a Superbowl Championship?

That game was close, small things mattered; if a an interception was not thrown, maybe a ball trying to be forced (even unconsiously) to an receiver focusing attention on himself and not his team...could things have been different?

Maybe a better pre-game practise without an un-needed distraction...

Maybe a player not putting out 100% even though that player may say he will, but he is mad and he just doesn't try 100%, human nature being what it is...

Maybe a coaching staff and other key players having to take extra time to ask themselves what the "Diva" is going to think of this play set where he is asked to block for...someone else...when they could have been focused on perfecting the play...

Maybe someone who walks around pouting and tight-jawed all week, before and after practises, after NFC championships...carries it into a Superbowl game too...just a little...just enough...

It seems I could go on like this for a while...

Who really gives a damn what Brandon Jacobs thinks? I hope this is motivation for us and Q when we play them this year but other than that I could care less.

Redheart, if his coach and teammates are any indication (and I think they are better than us) they have the greatest admiration for Q and his heart and there's no way he cost the Cards a Super Bowl.

While the interception was a huge play in the game, the Cardinals were one defensive stop from winning the game.

But...I think your point has some real merit in the sense that Kurt Warner does try to get Q his touches to keep him happy...and at times that may not be in the best interests of the team if Warner bypasses better options to force the ball into Anquan. What Warner is great at is finding the open man and as long as the offense remains geared toward that, we'll be fine.

I think there's some merit to that. At least here in Philly, while the majority of fans want him badly, there are some who paint him as a malcontent. When you don't follow the Cards, one (big) game can make the difference on how you're perceived. Oh and I agree with PJ1. Screw Jacobs. He swore up and down that we had no shot against the eagles.

Once again can someone show me a quote or a demand that specifically states that Q is demanding/wanting 10 million per year? A lot of you keep saying it as though its the gospel. I havent seen anything of the sort.

I wondered the same thing after the play. It is food for thought but only Kurt would know.

i imagine if Boldin was traded to the Giants, Jacobs would be on the radio spouting on about how this acquisition puts them over the top and makes them SB favorites. He's just trying to show confidence in his teammates, a good thing, but the Giants aren't winning anything with WR corp of Smith, Nicks, Ramses Barden(whatever his name is), and Hixon as their top targets.

Yeah, with the Super Bowl on the line... Warner passed to Q just to make him happy, etc., etc...

Fantasy! This is an episode from "Lost". ;)

Nope. Everybody does not assume that. I've never written that.

I believe him when he says he wants to leave. The marriage is not salvageable.

I don't think Jacobs is the sharpest knife in the drawer. The contract extension he signed with the Giants was very poor according to multiple analysts. Who ya gonna listen to a numbskull like Jacobs or a savvy veteran like Clinton Portis who was trying to recruit Q at the pro bowl?

This issue continues to smolder and regardless of Jacobs motives these variables all add to the equation. The two weeks surrounding the draft were great theatre. I don't see the FO being swayed in any way.

Well, it was never a marriage, and a team is not a family.

It is business agreement for services to be rendered, and that can always be salvaged.

My illogical lgic says that Qs current contract of ( correct me if I'm wrong) a 10 m bonus and 2.5 m this year in year 3 of the contract puts him at 6 m value for the year at the end of this year. If the contract were to be renegotiated prior to the start of this coming season then the past 2 years would be valued at roughly 7 m ea. So the break even point for the team to get current value of say 8m would be after 12 games this season. Sound right?
