MOUNT OLIVE — The Morris Knolls girls golf team was feeling the pressure heading into the Morris County Tournament. A year ago, the Golden Eagles were a brand new team. But after capturing the MCT as rookies, they had something to prove on Wednesday at Flanders Valley.
Consistency paid off for Morris Knolls, which totaled 177 strokes to claim back-to-back team titles. Head coach Rob Moore is going to hang the new plaque next to the old one in his business classroom.
Sophomore Olivia Gaglione and junior Annie Costache went 1-2, adding to Morris Knolls lore. In 2018, Christi Conroy won the MCT girls title competing as an individual.
"Last year, we came in wanting to do our best. This year, there's an expectation," Costache said. "We've been (shooting under 50) in practice rounds. We had to stay consistent."

Gaglione finished with a 3-over 39, while Costache had a 41. Morris Knolls junior Kendyl Croft also finished in the top 10 with a 48.
Morristown Beard finished second with 195 total strokes, two ahead of Mendham, as senior Sloane Fiverson was third and junior Quinn Jeffrey ninth.
"My shots were pretty consistent," said Gaglione, who had placed third a year ago. "I had a good attitude, good mental game."
