Home sick and bored, so here goes. Which pick NOT MADE in round 1 since the 2000 draft (when we took T. Jones #7) are you most dissapointed in. I wanted the Suggs pick, but the one that I wanted most that they didn't make was the Urlacher pick. They took Jones instead. Feel free to add any other rounds......

Maybe I worded it wrong. I meant who did you want the Cards to pick INSTEAD of the pick they made (like Jones over Urlacher). Maybe it came out right this time......

Easy.... Merriman.

Next would be Suggs... Who we SHOULD have taken.

I was sure that we were going to take Shaun Alexander in 2000. I am still bummed that we took TJ.

I was thinking based on need. Not just that he is the top guy in the league right now.

I remeber wanting LT at the time. Jones was considered a bum, and I wanted to go LT.

The 2000 draft, I remember wating Urlacher and Peterson, and Deltha O'Neal

Passing on Suggs. Not only ment we didnt pick a pro bowler, but we had to spend big money in FA the next offseason for Berry. Although I liked Berry that year we could have used that big contract on another postition.

Not worth worrying about. Don't care. Sunk cost. Don't worry, be happy. Look to the future, not the past. :)

You are a better man that I.

Between the Cards never winning, and the Suns just barely not winning it all, I'm about to reach my boiling point.

I will leave '04 and '06 out of it because we took the best available players Fitz, Dansby and Dockett and Leinart and Duece. There are many missing peices in between.

'00- Urlacher
Julian Peterson
Shaun Alexander
Keith Bullock
Deon Grant
Laveranues Coles

'01- LT
Richard Seymour
Marcus Stroud
Drew Brees
Chad Johnson

'02- Jeremy Shockey
Ed Reed
Lito Sheppard

'03- I wont say Suggs because he doesn't impress me anyway, but in the second and third rounds we could have had:
Lance Briggs
Derrick Dockery

'04- Could have had the perfect compliment to A-Dub in Bob Sanders in the second.

'05- Demarcus Ware
Merriman
Luis Castillo
Lofa tatupu
Frank Gore

For the record though, I think only about 1/2 of all first rounders ever really pan out, so we weren't too far off by failing 5 out of 7 years. We did nabb Boldin in the second and A-Dub in the 3rd. Vanden Bosch was a good second rounder. Our biggest problem IMO is that we fail to get guys in the middle rounds who can even stay in the NFL longer than a traing camp.

KVB's career stats in 4 seasons in Arizona are 70 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 pass defensed, and 2 fumble recoveries. He had one great season since he left and one average one, but he was horrible when he was here and the most overrated Cardinal not named Marcel Shipp (and at least Shipp had one good year).

With the pick Dave McGinnis wasted on the Great White Hope, he passed on Alge Crumpler, Chad Johnson, Kendrell Bell, Kris Jenkins, Ken Lucas, Fred Smoot, and Aaron Schobel, to name just a handful of players who actuall were good second round picks.

Good lord, the 2001 draft stunk:

2001 1 1 2 2 Leonard Davis T Texas
2 2 3 34 Kyle Vanden Bosch DE Nebraska
3 2 23 54 Michael Stone DB Memphis
4 3 2 64 Adrian Wilson DB North Carolina
5 4 3 98 Bill Gramatica K South Florida
6 4 28 123 Marcus Bell DT Memphis
7 5 2 133 Mario Fatafehi DT Kansas State
8 6 3 166 Bobby Newcombe WR Nebraska
9 7 2 202 Renaldo Hill DB Michigan State
10 7 46 246 Tevita Ofahengaue TE Brigham Young

If we're talking hindsight, there are too many to pick just one. However, if we're talking which pick did I want at the time of the draft that they didn't make, then I would have to go with Suggs.

In the 2000 draft, I don't remember Shaun Alexander even being considered when we picked (7th overall). It was between Thomas Jones and Ron Dayne and I remember being glad we picked Jone instead of Dayne. I guess it's true what they say, "there are no winners in a game of losers." :)

Urlacher will haunt my dreams forever... I was screaming his name when we were about to pick.

I was doing the same thing when we were SUPPOSED to pick Terrell Suggs. Only to be out done by the noise I made when I heard we traded down, my girlfriend said it sounded like Chewbacca passing a kidney stone....the cats hid for hours after that, and I turned off the TV and got drunk.

Come on!

It wasn't that bad. I mean, where would we be without Michael Stone ?

You know, that 2001 draft was actually impressively deep. Good talent in a whole bunch of rounds. Only the Cards and Dave McGinnis could have come out of a deep draft like this with only Adrian Wilson to show for it.

Adrian in the fourth; what a steal!

The rest...were very forgetable.
