So, a quick look at needs :

LongSnapper - cheap, might already be on the roster (Shor)

Center - either an improvement or compatation needed.

TE - Blocking TE would be nice, but if Patrick can stay healthy, we will be ok.

LB - another starting quality one would be nice.

KR - I think Breston's heart is not in KR duty anymore. Its more of a sucicdal youth type position and I think the Cards draft a new one.

CB - a 3rd good corner is needed as you never have enough

RB - The Cards will try to find one in the draft and THEN cut Edge

DE - looks kind of thin, add a vet possibly

After the Cards sign Warner, they will probably have $11M, then cut Edge $16M, then sign rookies $12M, restructure Wilson $8M.

So they have about $8M to play around with, or give some of that to Boldin. Not a lot of room for more than 1 top guy. Maybe 2 starter level guys if they are lucky.

Good Point...

BUT here's what concerns me. Last year we had very few injuries. I attribute that to John Lott's conditioning, a commitment by the players, and alot of GOOD luck. While this team gave us a season to remember for ALL-time it was still a (9-7) squad. NOT (12-4) or (11-5). Clearly, we need to IMPROVE in some areas. This team has above- average talent and ALOT of heart & determination but I think we're a few guys short from getting to the next level.

Big BQ!
Assuming we get kurt back, i agree we are mostly intact except for our dline; branch really needs to take off the diapers, watson could bve ready to break out, dockett will be dockett, which is just fine. we need depth there, quality..our lb corps needs 2-3 more bigtime players through the draft and fa and our front 7 will be beautiful, and dc davis will be able to work some shi*...to get back to the 2nd level of the post season, we need a top 5 defense perennially[?]..other posts already mentioned whatwe need in the db-safety area.

In all recent news, looks as if Warner will be back and though I think Leinart will be with the team as a good backup to have...after the season his faith with the Cards will be up in the air depending on how well Warner does...because if Warner does well, Kurt will then be the starter if it is a two year deal the following year and Leinart will cost a lot in his final years of his contract and will probably looking at his own career and the time slipping away behind Warner

Edge? Just don't see the team getting rid of him this coming season...who are we going to get to replace him...Hightower looked good against the Rams but then...well, you know... Hightower is an excellent change of pace/short yardage back but not a everydown guy. I don't see Whis trading someone like Edge or cutting him on a gamble of a young back he picked up in the draft being able to take his place

Thanks for this post, it makes me feel a whole lot better. Its so easy to get caught up in all the doom and gloom of the Cardinals free agency, but when you look at it calmly its not that bad

There are several player that I think they will bring back that were either injured, on the practice squad, or they really like.

Monty Beisel-He has played well at linebacker when given the opportunity.

Ali Highsmith-Was put on injured reserve but before that was a special teams dynamo. Might get a chance to play linebacker.

Keilen Dykes-Practice squad dlineman that they like.

Scott Peters-Olineman on IR who has played multiple positions and the Cardinals like.
