The Cardinal Smiles
LOS ANGELES -- Police are searching for a 17-year-old male in the shooting death of a Los Angeles Dodgers fan following a Dodgers game against the San Francisco Giants.
Two others -- a man and a woman -- remain in custody in the shooting. A third suspect -- the woman's husband -- had also been arrested but was later released after witnesses said he was not involved in the shooting.
Police, meanwhile, are backing away from an earlier report the shooting involved fans of the Giants. Police now say they are still investigating the motive for the shooting in the Dodger Stadium parking lot Friday night. Police say it is unclear whether baseball was the issue.
Mark Antenorcruz, 25, of Covina was shot once in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police issued a warrant for a home in Whittier where they recovered a semiautomatic handgun believed to be the murder weapon.
The identities of the man and woman arrested were not immediately released.
Dodgers spokesman Derrick Hall says security will be beefed up for tonight's game against the Giants. The National League West Division champion Giants won last night's game 6-to-4. The loss dropped the Dodgers three games behind Philadelphia among several teams pursuing the N-L wild-card playoff berth.
