Movie A Day - Road House

I'm stealing a day from arthurraccon. And I'll do it again if he doesn't start posting!

You can't call yourself a red blooded American man unless you've subjected yourself to this one! And if not, go turn your T.V. on. Chances are TBS is playing it.

Plot: Dalton, the best bouncer in the backwoods (crazy redneck, or is it enraged hillbilly). Is hired to clean up a dirty bar.

What is there not to like about this movie? Patrick Swayze is at his mullet-lovin' best as the philosophy-spewin' bouncer who cracks heads and enlightens all at the same time! It is so full of unintentional humor that it's become kind of a classic despite its cheesiness.

Everybody who's seen it has their favorite line. My personal has to be one of the goons saying "I used to **** guys like you in prison!". I spit beer through my nose the first time I heard that one. What else do you expect from a screenwriter named David Lee Henry (who also wrote the craptacular Segal flickOut for Justice) and a director name Rowdy. Think they were going for the redneck audience?

Swayze holds a special place at the heart of my bottom with films like this and Point Break. Good fun.

Dalton - "Take the biggest guy in the world, shatter his knee and he'll drop like a stone."

Keep the movies comin' mdamien. Way to pick up for the slacker. :D

Arthur probably wanted to rewatch Pokemon: The Movie before making a thread about it. ;)

Ha ha, I knew that some Patrick Swayze action would get you out of hiding :D

And to think, tomorrow I had a great look at the Rowdy Roddy Piper classic Hell Comes to Frogtown set up.

Roadhouse was on my list of guilty pleasures. It is so bad, but whenever it comes on I just can't help but watch. It has to be all the corny one-liners:

"Hurts don't it?"

"It's my way or the highway."

"I used to f*** guys like you in prison!"

"Pain don't hurt."

"You're my little Saturday night thing!"

Theres nothing fun about it at all. Swayze has to be in the top 10 worst actors of all time. In terms of film selection. Im sure he's capable of being a good actor, he played a good role in Donnie Darko. But man. Ghost? Dirty Dancing? Point Break? Roadhouse? Thats a slew of crap right there.

So bad I like em, not Ghost and DD, but still.

Recently watched it. I must have seen pieces of it as a kid because some parts seemed familiar. Hilarious movie, a little darker than I was expecting though.

Anytime you can incorporate a monster truck into the script you know you've got something incredible going.

That was some of the worst choreography I've seen. I paused some of the fight scenes just to see how awful it was. In one seen a dude was bleeding before he even got hit.

"I used to f*** guys like you in prison!"

Yeah, that was a funny line. Is that really something you want to admit to?
