Say Anything

Cast: John Cusack, Ione Skye, John Mahoney, Joan Cusack, Lili Taylor, Jeremy Piven, Philip Baker Hall, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, etc.

Summary: High school senior Lloyd Dobler wants nothing more than to go out with beautiful and intelligent Diane Court. Lloyd attempts to win her heart over the objections of her over-protective father before Diane leaves for a scholarship in England.

Trivia:

The dojo featured in this movie is the same one that was used in The Karate Kid (1984) as the Cobra Kai dojo.

When Lloyd holds up the radio, it is actually playing a song by the group "Fishbone". "In your eyes" was added post-production.

Producer James L. Brooks said what inspired this movie was an incident where Brooks saw a man walking with his daughter. He saw them and wondered what would happen if the father committed a crime. Those thoughts were used to create the story.

---------------------------------------

Too funny, that Chap would mention my next film in the last movie thread. I had already planned on doing this movie. What can I say about this movie? I love this movie. It's not perfect, but it's got so many cool lines and memorable scenes that it just sticks with you. If you haven't seen it - go see it!!

Nice choice BIM. Got this one on DVD. One of Cameron Crowe's first films and a good one at that.

Somehow I missed this movie as a teen in the late 80’s & early 90’s. I saw it for the first time a few years ago. What a great movie. Cusack just moved up another level in my book after this one. And whatever happened to Ione Skye? I know that she didn’t totally disappear, but her career didn’t take off either.

Love the movie, but unfortunately it reminds me of everything I didn't do in high school... :(
