Previously I took a lot of movies that are cinema classics such as Kirusawa films and the like, but I'm going to depart into films that aren't particularly good, but for whatever reason, I just like them.
The first is Dave (1993).
Kevin Kline is so good in this movie you forget its ridiculous plot and over the top mushy goodness. His "one time I caught a fish...this...big" line with the robot arms is classic.
It's a funny movie that pokes around being important but never really tries to make a statement, and for that I like it. Bulworth is this movie on a bunch of crack.
Summary:
Cast:
Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Frank Langella, Kevin Dunn, Ving Rhames, Ben Kingsley, Charles Grodin, Laura Linney
Trivia:
Hilarious cameo poking fun at Stone's conspiracy nature, given that he's the only person who sees the conspiracy, which in this case IS true.
I think this one is funny because Beatty later played Bulworth...
Some good quotes:
then at the end...

Summary:
Bill Mitchell is the philandering and distant President of the United States. Dave Kovic is a sweet-natured and caring Temp Agency operator, who by a staggering coincidence looks exactly like the President. As such, when Mitchell wants to escape an official luncheon, the Secret Service hires Dave to stand in for him. Unfortunately, Mitchell suffers a severe stroke whilst having sex with one of his aides, and Dave finds himself stuck in the role indefinitely. The corrupt and manipulative Chief of Staff, Bob Alexander, plans to use Dave to elevate himself to the White House - but unfortunately, he doesn't count on Dave enjoying himself in office, using his luck to make the country a better place, and falling in love with the beautiful First Lady...

Trivia:
Many Hollywood personalities, US Congressmen, and political commentators appear in this film as themselves.
The president's full name in the movie is William Harrison Mitchell; William Henry Harrison was a real president elected in 1840 and the first president to die in office. The vice president in the movie is named Nance; John Nance Garner was Franklin D. Roosevelt's vice president for two terms, and once derided the job as not being "worth a pitcher of warm piss" (bowdlerized at the time and often misquoted as "spit").
Cameo: [Oliver Stone] the man who tries to convince the reporter that the president is not the same man as he used to be.
Hilarious cameo poking fun at Stone's conspiracy nature, given that he's the only person who sees the conspiracy, which in this case IS true.
'Kevin Kline' got the part after Warren Beatty and Kevin Costner both turned it down.
I think this one is funny because Beatty later played Bulworth...
When they are swearing Gary Nance as president, they refer to him as the 45th president of the United States. This means that Mitchell would be the 44th. George W. Bush is the 43rd President of the United States.
Some good quotes:
Bob Alexander: What do you think you're doing?
Dave: What? Oh, you mean the press conference. I had a couple of ideas that I wanted to share with the country.
Bob Alexander: Share? Share? You don't call a press conference. I call a press conference. You're nothing. Do you understand? You're nobody.
Dave: I'm not nobody.
Bob Alexander: You're LINT! You're a FLEA! You're a BLIP!
Dave: Well... maybe I am. But you're fired.
Bob Alexander: I'm going to kill him.
Alan Reed: You can't kill a President.
Bob Alexander: He's not a President. He's an ordinary person. I can kill an ordinary person.
Alan Reed: Bob!
Bob Alexander: I can kill a hundred ordinary people!
Dave: You know, I've always wondered about you guys. You know, about how you're trained to take a bullet for the president?
Duane: What about it?
Dave: Is that really true? I mean, would you let yourself be killed to save his life?
Duane: Certainly.
Dave: So, now that means you'd get killed for me too.
then at the end...
Duane: [Dave shakes hands with Duane just before they part company] Dave?
Dave Kovic: Yeah?
Duane: I would have taken a bullet for you.
Dave Kovic: [smiling] Thanks, Duane.
