Hold onto the ball, Murray!
Okay, so I figured not many people would bother with Shakespeare, but I figured there would be a few at least...no intellectuals out there? (not meant as a backhanded insult) Oh well. Oh well. Had to put a Shakespearean production in there.
On that same note, I also had to include a Kevin Smith movie. I believe he is in his own right an artistic genius, and his masterpiece is, without a doubt, Chasing Amy.
This is the story of a pair of long-time friends, Banky and Holden, who create their own comic books who, through another friend, Hooper, are introduced to a fellow comic (pun intended), Alyssa, and later invite them to a bar to hang out together.
Of course, Holden (Played by Affleck) falls for Alyssa, but there's a problem: She's gay. He falls for a lesbian. What follows is nothing short of masterful, as she first brings the innocent Holden into the world of sexual enlightenment as a friend, then breaks what she holds dear to be with him when Holden expresses his undying love.
But there's a problem: Holden finds out about her past, and has trouble dealing with it. What follows....well, Silent Bob's (aka Kevin Smith's) ritual speech, which is quite profound, a lot of odd musings and a beautiful ending.
This is truly a classic film and some of the best writing I've ever seen performed. I do apologize for the grammer and spelling, however, since my brain is currently fried.
