Synopsis:In Clint Eastwood's acclaimed Western, Little Bill Daggett (Gene Hackman), a sadistic, dictatorial sheriff, enforces gun control on a tiny frontier town, doling out his own brand of due process as he sees fit. When he denies justice to the prostitutes of the town brothel, one of whom has been slashed by a client, the women hire Bill Munny (Eastwood), a reformed gunslinger, to gain vengeance. However, Munny must contend with his new moral code in the face of revisiting the life he left behind.

Some of the cast: Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, Richard Harris, and Jaimz Woolvett.

I'm a huge fan of Westerns in general, and this stands out as one of my favorites. Unforgiven was written by David Peoples (who wrote 12 Monkeys and co-wrote the screenplay for Blade Runner), produced and directed by Clint himself. Great story, great acting, just enough humor in the right places, and wonderfully filmed. I am glad they didn't go with the original title: The Cut ***** Killings.

I'm sure this film will garner some discussion. I know people who loved it and those that didn't. Although most of those that didn't aren't really into Westerns as far as I know.

I'm not a huge western fan but I did enjoy this one. It is the classic Eastwood role. Not to mention that Freeman is one of my favorite actors. Man I haven't seen this one in years.

I don't have it yet, but there is a 10 year anniversary edition out on dvd with some extras and commentaries, etc.

Saw it one time, when it came out, I think I felt it was slow moving, and was shocked it won Best Picture.

But then again, that was a long stinking time ago, I'd like to see it again.

Amazing film. Amazing DVD.

The Western pathos is really turned upside down. This certainly isn't the west of John Wayne. Or even the west of Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone.

I think the realism is what sets this apart from other Westerns, especially those like Tombstone and Silverado which make the west a little more glamourous. Everything in Unforgiven is dusty or muddy--exactly like you'd think it was way back when.

The one true American film Genre. The Western. I love this film. It is dark, and dirty, yet appropriately humourous at times. It doesnt have any of the arguable cheesy filmic techniques and overacting in classic westerns. An all around great film. Good choice, BIM.

Just watched this over the weekend. What an awesome movie. Why is it that the less Eastwood says, the more dramatic he is? ;)

I just got this from the library. I saw it back in high school, but I wasn’t really paying attention.

I just watched it. It was much better than I had remembered. I loved the build-up and suspense throughout the entire movie. It was filled with quotable lines. Here are a few of my favorites.

Little Bill Daggett: You just shot an unarmed man.
Bill Munny: He should have armed himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bill Munny: Hell of a thing, killin' a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess he had it comin'.
Bill Munny: We all got it comin', kid.

Its on now. I woke up a little bit ago and it was on the tv. No choice but to stay up and watch.

It is just to the climax with Bill Munny walking into the saloon.

This was sent from my cell pjone so please excise any typeos or other errors.

I've watched the last 30min about 20 times. One of my all time favorite movies.

Little Bill: I don't deserve to die like this
William Munny: Deserve's got nothing to do with it.
