From RottenTomatoes.com:
Two brain-dead California teenagers, with a combined vocabulary of approximately 75 words, travel back in time to corral various historical figures for a class presentation that just might keep the pair from failing history "most heinously." Napoleon, Socrates, Billy The Kid, Sigmund Freud and Mozart are among those who journey forward in time with the duo in order to give the youth of California eye-witness accounts of the "awesome" pageant that is world history. Most excellent.

Well I figured that since its early in the week and people need a pick me up to get going ... I decided to go with one of my favorite comedies (which I'm pretty sure that a great deal of you enjoyed as well).

This is movie that gets me rolling everytime that I watch it. Great mix of mindless stupidity with physical comedy! This movie is nothing more than good goofy fun but extremely entertaining nonetheless.

Favorite line(s): "We are all but dust in the wind dude!"
"Dust.......Wind........DUDE!"

Up Next: My first look into the horror genre for this and one of my favorite horror movies ... Poltergeist!

I was at Golfland the day they were filming the "Waterloo" scenes, my cousin was an extra but she apparently never made it into the final cut. Nobody famous was around just the dude who played Napoleon I think I was like 11 or 12 (the filming was going on during the summer of '87) so I had no clue what was going on. The film was delayed for like 2 years, I have no clue why....

I watched them film many scenes at my high school, Coronado High in Scottsdale, also the school of Bob Chebat. They used our hallways, outdoor campus, auditorium (for their big presentation), etc.

The real bashful girls at the mall food court are Coronado girls, and I can spot other students I went to school with in the background as extras.

Fun movie, lots of funny one-liners, and George Carlin.

Now that you say that, I guess Coronado was the location--I always thought, in fact, I was CERTAIN that it was filmed at North High School right after they closed it. (I guess it was just north of Van Buren near the Zoo and SRP)

That said, I really like this movie, just for it's goofiness and the fact that it was filmed in Phoenix, and there's even a city called San Dimas in California (with a huge water park, no less)!

You're thinking of East HS - North HS is on Thomas/10th Street, across from the Phoenix CC.

I just rewatched this one. I hadn’t seen it in about 10 years. Napolean at Sunsplash cracks me up. So does Socrates when he tries to act all suave while trying to pick up the chicks. I noticed that one of the princesses is also the French girl from Better Off Dead.

It was also filmed at the AMF on Rural and the 60. My sister was working at the bowling alley at the time. Didn't make the movie though.

One of my classmates at Dobson, Tony Galde, was in Just One of the Guys. Of all the Dobson speech and debaters, I would not have pegged Tony to be the first one in the movies. OTOH, I see more of Mike Medlin (billed as Lex Medlin) these days than I ever did in school. He's in like every freakin' commercial.

This film still cracks me up. I still wish I could have led (or lead now) the "slacker" life-style of Bill & Ted.
