Based on Jacqueline Susann's Best selling of all time Novel, this portrail of the lives of three actresses struggling to make it, and stay on top. A camp classic that has it all - drama, romance, comedy, and for the guys, Sharon Tate filming soft-core porn films!

Stars Barbara Parkins (Peyton Place), Patty Duke (The Miracle Worker) and Sharon Tate, in her breakout roll before she was brutally murdered by Charles Manson Family.

Tagline: The nation's most startling and hotly discussed best-seller now on the screen with every shock and sensation intact

Plot Outline Film version of Jacqueline Susann's best-selling novel chronicling the rise and fall of three young ladies in show business.

Plot Synopsis: Anne Welles, a bright, brash young New England college grad leaves her Peyton Place-ish small town and heads for Broadway, where she hopes to find an exciting job and sophisticated men. During her misadventures in Manhattan and, later, Hollywood, she shares experiences with two other young hopefuls: Jennifer North, a statuesque, Monroe-ish actress who wants to be accepted as a human being, but is regarded as a sex object by all the men she meets, and Neely O'Hara, a talented young actress who's accused of using devious means by a great older star (Helen Lawson) to reach the top, pulling an "All About Eve"-type deception in order to steal a good role away from her.

Lot of great quotes - one that makes me think of this board

Neely O'Hara(after getting drunk, fired from her show, and walking through an area of strip clubs): Boobies, boobies, boobies. Nothin' but boobies. Who needs em?

Neely O'Hara: "I have to get up at five o'clock in the morning and SPARKLE, Neely, SPARKLE!"

Jennifer North: "Well, you know how bitchy **** can be"

I just got this from the library. (based on your recommendation) I’m a little weary though, it has a 4.9 rating at IMDB. However, I’ll watch pretty much anything once, just ask Pariah. :D

I just watched it. It actually wasn't too bad, better than I was expecting. I laughed when I heard those quotes mentioned above. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that teased you so much. There are plenty of hot women, wearing very little clothing, yet they manage to not show any nudity throughout the entire movie.

Manson didn't murder Tate, he had her murdered.

yep, Manson is not a convicted murderer he was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder which was pretty unheard of at the time. Bugliosi was able to get a conviction to the surprise of a lot of people.

Talk about a great book and movie although pretty gruesome when you remember it's a true story.
