Michigan State basketball took down New Mexico in the round of 32, punching their ticket into the Sweet 16. The Spartans would not have been able to it if it weren't for the performance of their senior guard Jaden Akins.

Akins was the leading scorer for the Spartans, getting 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, getting big buckets and playing stellar defense. As Tom Izzo always says, seniors will feel the pressure of their time coming to an end, and this may have been that type of moment for Akins.

When the Spartans needed him most, Akins stepped up in a massive way, leading his team to the Sweet 16 for the second time in his MSU career.

Following the win, Akins spoke to the media in the locker room, talking about Jase Richardson's struggles, his skirmish with Izzo and how he can use his experience from the last MSU Sweet 16 to win this time around.
