This is just my first impressions of the game without going back and reviewing the tape, so I reserve the right to flip flop a little if necessary. ;>)
An Ugly game. Not the worst I've seen, by far, but certainly no Mona Lisa either. However....what nice feeling to see the Cards win an ugly game.....and on the road.
That's what its all about sometimes !
Overall, I didn't think this was one of the defense's better days. Same same for the offense. Usually when you put two performances like that together in the same game....you lose. .
And a total stinky-poo with no merits was it neither.
Fitz showed big improvement.
The OL regressed. I'm tired of even going there, but my concerns about the offensive coaching, or more accurately the sometimes seemingly lack thereof, continues to deepen.
Josh didn't have a great day, but he got the job done when he needed to, which ironically(his lack of making a "big play") has been one of the "ace" cards some of those on his case have been playing a lot lately.
Jeremy Bridges was a revolving door much of the day. This is an area I really want to pay attention to on the tape. Is he really that bad?
I didn't even notice the player changes on the OL. Whats going on here? ....and why this making changes in "pairs"? what's with that? Denny said "It was Everett's Call", yet this seems to be to be a replay of pre-Everett. Wylie's gone because seemingly he and Denny didn't see eye to eye about something. The only thing I can possibly deduce out of all this right now is: Denny's calling the shots, and he ain't leavin' no room for anyone to question that. Welcome to the Carl Hargrave, Richard Solomon Club Mr. Lindsey.
Alex Wood is still on probationary status.
What does Mike Kruczek think about Josh and his role in the offense? Oh..that's right....This is Denny Green country. Deep dark chinese secret. Anyone asking questions will be assigned to the scouting of European footfall prospects in the Himalayas.
The offensive play calling a play design really are questionable far too often, it seems to me. Very erratic...and not in a good (ala 'unpredictable') way.
James Darling continues to be everywhere on the field. Karlos Dansby just plain has a nose for the ball and being at the place at the right time. That fumble recovery he made was pure strength...he simply took the ball away as he fell.
The defensive line looked generally decent, but still the Dolphins seemed to blow open holes right up the middle too easy. They weren't getting their running yardage outside, but popping Minor loose "straight up the gut".
Who is that little little clipboard hugger that's always tagging around Green on the side lines? The special teams coach? If so, No wonder we're having problems. That guy looks like a hyper Barney Fife, only not quite as masculine.
Darnell Dockett is another that looks better every game.
The Starks INT was sweet. And I think what was probably THE key play of the game beyond any doubt. Not only the pick, but the way he turned on the jets and streaked to the endzone...that was indeed beatiful to watch.
It not only got them back in the game on the scoreboard but seemed to energize the team.
Which brings me to another area I "felt" most of the game.....the team especially on offense was again "flat". The defense led once again was laying some licks on people, but overall lethargy seemed to be more the rule of the day.
This HAS to be coming from the coaching in some way shape or form.
But I'm going to leave that "analysis" for another day.
Right now, There is no longer any 17 game road losing streak. The team is 3-5 and many are seemingly 'disappointed' in that. I'm not. They won on the road with less than stellar performances by both offense and defense for most of the game. Yes, they won IN SPITE of that. It didn't take a superhuman effort that few could ever expected to repeat. Instead of losing a game they should have won, they won a game they probably should have lost. Just that is a good sign to me.
The Giants are coming to Phoenix next, and I will go out on a limb early and say, I expect them to win this game.
And they won a game in exciting last minute 4th quarter come back action.
I don't know about anyone else, but what more can you really ask for on a given football sunday than that?
