1) Best game ever from Rolle, barely called his name because his man wasn't wide open, and then he CATCHES the ball for an INT and makes a nice return, and then forced the fumble. Great game, obviously not having Bryant on the field made it easier but he did a nice job all day. SF was going to Davis the whole game because their WR's couldn't get open.

2) Total homer here but one play that I thought in hindsight was huge was the holding call on Arrington on the punt. Earlier this year Shipp in the same situation whiffed and they blocked the punt. This time Arrington saw the guy break wide open up the gut, and he literally just tackled him. 10 yards onto the punt return is MUCH better than a punt blocked. If you watched after the play JJ strolls off with his head down and one of the coaches pats him on the head and says something which I assume was "good job". If you can't make the block there, just make sure the guy doesn't block the punt.

3) Nice game from Edge again he really does have a knack for cutting on a dime. Sometimes I wish he'd just stay with the runs longer but he gets yards that aren't necessarily there.

4) Great first half by Matt, that long one to Johnson was all Matt buying time. He underthrew Fitz earlier but at least he got it there. And on the TD pass he did a nice job looking the man off. Play before I thought he should have ran it he was holding the ball so long you start to worry about a holding call.

5)I have never before in my life seen a guy miss a FG and have the ref call it good. I was sitting there saying huh? They come back from break and they both said it was wide, I guess it's not a reviewable play but that was amazing. Glad it didn't really impact the game outcome.

6) Troy Walters fumble, I still can't decide did JJ blow it by reaching back, or was that simply momentum that made it impossible for him to dive on the ball immediately? First time through I was mad at him but after watching replays I think his momentum took him past the ball and he tried to reach back for it?

7) I'm really starting to worry about Pope, I was watching him a lot in this game since he started. First off, can't block to save his life on the run game, constantly blown up, too high, no leverage. His routes just seem like he's following a dotted line on the field or something, just way too mechanical.

8) I love Lutui, every game someone is mad at him and pushing him late. He got away with 2 late shoves before he got that penalty, he's very aggressive player. Not necessarily dirty, just right on the edge. I guess if he were on the other team I'd probably call it dirty.

9) They finally gave me my pass to Wakefield, worked just like I said it would, and he caught it!

I have gone over it at least 10-15 times now and the field goal missed to the left. Even when they show the replay he is clearly a few inches to a foot wide left. I have never seen a blown field goal call in my entire life, but if you look at the replay long enough Rackers missed it.

Re: The field goal

Rackers is lucky it was high enough to go over the post --

I saw in the paper (EVT?) a quote from the game official saying that by rule -- if its over the post, its good.

Five feet lower, that field goal clanks off the post--

You just can't tell from TV angles. The kick was higher than the goalpost and the ref under the post had the best view. The ref on the other post was very hesitant to raise his arms, though. For once maybe the Cards caught a break.

You don't get local radio here, Russ, but if you have ever heard him interviewed he is extremely humble and just a guy you automatically like. XTRA910 has a sound bite of him interviewed after the draft and he exclaims "Yeah! I'm a Cardinal!" He does have a mean streak on the field, though.

Re FG and replay-

Not sure you would ever get a call overturned on a the replay of a FG. without a camera in the top of the upright you could never get a replay that is definitive over the official standing below the upright.

the replay they showed on TV was pretty damn definitive. I don't know the rule on if it's challengeable, but he clearly missed slightly wide. The ball was above the upright and to the side. If it had been 2-3 feet lower, it would've clanged off the outside curve of the left upright.

I like Lutui also but that was a stupid penalty and a drive killer. Have to stay under control. That hit was way after the play was over.

Let's see, he's what........a rookie who has started 8 games maybe? He'll learn from his mistakes and keep getting better. THAT is what is so exciting about Deuce and Matt to me.........

Unless the camera was lined up directly with the upright, it doesn't have a better view than someone standing directly below it. There is going to be some parallax depending on where the camera showing the replay was located.

All of that said, I don't think any of us would be complaining about the call had it been ruled "no good". We'd be all over Rackers.

Nope, I just don't buy it. If he isn't a hall of famer now, he never will be.

Big Fred was wide, wide open in the flat.

His eyes got as big as saucers when he saw no one was within five yards of him.
