I think that my powersupply on my computer is going out once again. Slowly but surely. I sometimes hear my computer revving up, like its about to go 30mph then throttle back down. I'm pretty sure its the powersupply because my its not my hard drives. If it is my ps this will be the 4th one to die in 2 and a half years.

Actually. I think it might be my CPU fan. The thing is always loud but it seems like its changing speeds on me. Its not supposed to do that, i've got a dial that controls how fast i want that thing to spin.

I think I need to get a new power supply pretty badly.

I bought some cheap case from newegg.com, it was less than $50 and it came with a power supply. At the time I thought it was too good to pass up and that when I had some cash I would upgrade the PoS power supply.

Well, I never did upgrade and I have two HDDs, a P4, and a good vid card that I am sure don't have a good enough stream of juice coming to them. Especially when the computer heats up during games.

I have a utility that measures the voltage and the 12v line is always at 11.6 or so when I look at it. Is this bad? I need to check it out after playing HL2 or Doom3 for an hour or so when the computer has heated up and see where it is. The 5v and 3.3v line seems to actually be over voltage all the time.

I don't know this power stuff very well. Here's a link to my cheap case and power supply.

I'd probably upgrade the Powersupply to a 400-500 Watt supply, since it sounds like you are running some high end stuff. Be wary of taxing those cheap powersupplies, I lost my first motherboard, processor and hard drive because of that.
