By I don't care, I mean the whole Horton thing. It is hopeless to lament over Horton leaving as much as to gripe about taking Levi Brown instead of Adrian Peterson. It is done, and for the most part it is hard to believe that Horton would be better suited to fix our worst problem than Arians, a bad offense in a league where offense tends to be your best shot of winning. It bites that Horton is gone but I'm not going to pick on a wound and get my already infected Cardinal optimism (which is in low quantities) even more depleted with another anxiety which has passed as of now. OL and QB are my concerns, that situation is at level craptastic. Or defense went from great to average probably with the talent we have on that side of the ball. If the Cardinals were a patient, it is our offense that has us in intensive care, not the defense

You pretty much summed up my feelings as well. Would have liked to have Horton stay, but big changes were needed and those changes led to where we are. If I start feeling down about it, I remember that these changes also led to the removal of Rod Graves. That always makes me feel better. :D

Sadly the Cards offense is going take longer to fix since there are no Mannings or Lucks in this draft. At least Grimm is gone and that alone will improve the offense.

But you are right it makes no difference. It's the Cardinals and 5-11 is what they do.

You are right JG, things must go on. I too lament that we were not able to keep Horton. He did a remarkable job for this team, first taking the time to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each of the defensive players, then tailoring a scheme to fit their strengths. The real shame is that had Whiz simply done the same thing, he too would most likely still have been here, and this topic would not be on the table at all. I wish both of them well in their new endeavors, and thank them for what they brought us while they were here.

Now we are faced with a whole new scenario, and I am wholly prepared to give this new management group and coaching staff the same support that we all gave Whiz and company when they came aboard. Arians is not without talent, (one only needs to look at the past season to see that he can handle adversity). Being a cancer survivor on top of that is no small accomplishment either. I certainly hope that the whole group of (in Whiz we trust) supporters are willing to give Arians the same chance that they gave Whiz when he came aboard.

Life changes, things change, and so has our franchise. This is a movement in a new and different direction, and it is time for Cardinals fans to let go of the past and give their support to the new people taking over the job of running things. Go Cards !!!

Arians is a great offensive mind, no doubt. Players who played for him love him. He has all the experience in the world. He comes to a team in great need of an offensive minded coach. I have two concerns though.

1. I don't care how good an offensive coach is, if you don't have a serviceable QB, you are right back in the same situation that we are now.

2. The thought of Todd Bowles taking over for this defense is frightening. After taking over for Juan Castillo, the Eagles looked worse. I can understand if it was the players, (which I'm not buying one bit, Philly is very talented on defense) but to not show some kind of improvement? That's a red flag.

Overall, this was Horton's job and I don't blame him for getting pissed off and wanting to bail. I think it made more sense to hire Horton as the HC and find a OC then to hire Arians along with Bowles. I sure hope this works out.

The problem with this logic is that with Horton as HC the defense still gets worse because he wouldn't be calling plays and that is a big part of the success that the defense had was him dialing up the right play at the right time. Arians will be the HC as well as call plays for the offense and thus the offense will likely get better with Arians and the defense will likely be in the same spot it would have been in either way.

The problem with that logic is that it assumes Horton would no longer be calling plays for the Defense but BA would call the plays for the Defense.

The main thing is that the NFL is an offense oriented league. If it comes down to a good Offensive coach vs a good Defensive coach you have to go with the former.
