I'm going to assume that the Cards do little in free agency.

1st round-Dominique Rogers-Cromartie(CB): i've been wanting a RB all along but this guy is going to be a playmaker. When is the last time time the Cards had a big time playmaker in the defensive backfield. Aeneas was a great corner but he wasn't the big play, home run hitter that DRC will be. Before you jump on me,AW was a HOF CB. I'm not belittling him.

2nd round-Jamal Charles(RB):he reminds me of Clinton Portis. He's hasn't taken a beating college and it seems his best days are ahead of him. He gives us a home run threat at the RB position

3rd round-Jason Jones(DE/OLB): tremendous potential and has good size at 6'5,273. He's very athletic. Played out of position(DT) at EMU but looks like he'll transition well to the NFL

4th round-Jordy Nelson(WR)- This may be my favorite player coming into the NFL. He is going to be a player. He's a perfect WHisenhunt type of player. He'll play special teams and be our 3rd WR.

5th round-Jake Ikegwuono(CB):He hurt his knee and will probably be out for the year but he was a potential 1st rounder before he got hurt. Now would be a good time to take a flyer on player of his ability.

6th round-Kirk Barton(OT):he's a solid, unpectacular type player that will provide good depth. Plus,he is from Ohio State so that has to help.

7th round-the best punter available.

Nice. I doubt DRC is available @ 16 now, but it sure would be nice.

I know his stats, but I honestly have only watched Charles play about 5-6 times. I will take your word for it.

Jones will be a lesser version of Pace, but a good cheap replacement if we let CP leave.

Nelson will be verrrrry similar to Johnson IMO.

5th round is a good time to snag Ikegwuono if he is still available. if not, I say go ahead and get Durant Brooks or Alexis Serna.

I think there are players with more potential that Barton available in the 6th, but I am impressed that you didn't let your homerism get to you earlier.

Overall, good job, just not as good as the ones I put up a few days ago :)

It will be close on DRC.I still think McKelvin and Jenkins will go before him. The first 16 could look like this.
1-Miami-Ryan
2-St.Louis-Jake Long
3-Atl-McFadden
4-Oak-Chris Long
5-KC-Sedrick Ellis
6-Jets-Gholston
7-NE-McKelvin
8-Baltimore-Kelly
9-Cin-Dorsey
10-NO-Clady
11-Buf-Sweed
12-Den-Merling
13-Car-Williams
14-Chi-Mendenhall
15-Det-Jenkins
16-Ari-DRC

of course any team after NE could take him. Everybody has Chicago going RB.They worry me the most. Imagine Hester and DRC on the same field :jawdrop:.

I don't think Nelson is anything like Johnson. JN seems like a much more versatile player. He did a lot of different things for that Kansas State team. I saw several of their games this year and he was the best player on the field. They seemed to get him the ball every way imaginable. He was always open and always had the ball. A very very versatile player IMHO.

Just read where he figures to be back by Oct. (Ikeg, that is)........

I think thats optimistic agent speak. He tore his ACL and dislocated his knee cap in December. I doubt he would be ready to play next year.

You need to add a punter in there somewhere.

I think there is one draftable punter out there -- Durrant Brooks of GA Tech. I have no clue where he could go.

The next guy is intriguing -- Dragosovich (or something) from one of the Dakota schools -- the good: cannon for a leg. the bad: more blocked punts than normal. I dont think he gets drafted.

If it drops like that , I'd take the workhorse Stewart and not look back for 10 yrs.

Love the Jake Ikegwuono pick, but I think taking him in the 4th would be more realistic.

a CB in the first round doesn't bother me either. Nor does a RB in round 2.

after that I'd like to see more OL and DL players. Never can be too deep.

I would soil myself in excitement with that draft.

As would I. If we think we could get a back like Charles in the second round, I'm all for taking DRC in the first. No matter what, our first two picks must be a CB and RB. I don't think Charles will be there in the second though. scout.com has him as the third best back. Maybe he will be and man oh man would that be an awesome 1-2 punch in the draft.

Backs like Charles are avialable every year in the draft. This year backs like Chris Johnson has a similar skill set. Backs like Mendenhall and Stewart don't come around every year. And you really don't allways have the opportunity to take one. At #16 they'd be very affordable for a long period. That's good for a productive position.

I would take Chris Johnson over Charles I think. Also, before we get ahead of ourselves, if we dont resign Pace will be forced into taking a replacement for him very early.

Agreed, I'm still up on Stewart or Mendenhall first, but I think we do need a CB big time and I'd hate to wait until the 2nd to get one. Besides, Whis said this was going to be a run first offense and that hasn't been the case. I think a second rounder will work for the Cards since it's not a priority, whereas a second rounder CB won't be as much of an impact. If the Cards do draft Mendenhall or Stewart, they better make sure they think they can get a great CB in the second.

I'm scared of small school RB's because they face less competitive defenses, and smaller players.

As long as everyone is throwing around Charles' name, let me throw out a CB who might be there. Flowers or surprise Talib if he slips more..

He ran rough shod over the Boise State D in the Hawaii bowl last year. Not exactly a small school name. And there are ALOT of smaller school players taken after the first round. Some even in the first.

Not exactly, but not LSU, USC or Ohio St. either.

Yuck to the first 2 picks. Both have bust written all over them.

Again, I'd be more than happy taking Stewart (over Mendenhall) and getting the best CBA in the second.

I actually love Charles in the 2nd. I see that as a more likely pick than any RB in the first. With our depth at the RB position it would be almost irresponsible to take one with our most high profile pick. Especially considering our lack of depth in the LB & DB position.

And Charles will not be a bust. The kid is crazy good.

Love this draft Cbus, but I also think Jake might need to be taken in the 4th.
