As disheartening as seeing Najee Harris represent Los Angeles may be, fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers learned a lot from their former running back during his first Chargers' press conference.

Harris all but confirmed that his former head coach, Mike Tomlin, let him know far ahead of 2025 free agency that the Pittsburgh Steelers wouldn't be re-signing the four-time 1,000-yard rusher:

"Me and Coach T, we're pretty close in certain ways, so I knew what was coming. I didn't plan on doing it. It wasn't something that was in the plan or something. But it's a business."

Harris would give an almost exact timeframe for when he found out as well:

"I just knew that it would be my last year. Maybe like a couple games, maybe like halfway through the end of the season I kind of knew that."

Harris also began to see far less opportunities to rush the football towards the end of the season, failing to record more than 13 carries in his final five games as a Steeler—with three of those games resulting in less than 10 rushing attempts by Harris.

With that in mind, did the Pittsburgh Steelers, or Harris, limit the running back's volume in preparation for 2025 free agency?
