Name one play you would like to see the Cardinals use on offense...

I cannot stand the Dude but I would be laughing with joy if they ran him straight down the seam of the field and threw it deep to him. The Dude has problems making easy catches (simply put, he is scared of the ball when it is coming right at him) but for some reason he seems to thrive catching the ball over his shoulder :D

Flea flicker.

If Kerwynn can keep running like he did Sunday that play would probably work. Need some kind of a threat up the middle to draw the defense in. I seem to recall them calling it once earlier in the year with Ellington.

I would not mind also seeing Ginn throw a pass again... that actually was one of the best passes thrown on the move across the body I have seen in a long time, I'm serious lol

Trap plays.. misdirection.. let's try out our shiny new guard and running back with fresh legs! This is the kind of stuff that works against teams with super-aggressive pass rushers.. like the Rams.

Do you forget that Kevin Kolb put like 4-5 passes on The Dude's hands his first season on just that kind of route? I'd rather have John Brown exploiting the seam than The Dude at this point.

What I'd love to see is a TE middle screen. Since our TEs can't block anyone, the misdirection would be ideal. I remember running a middle screen with Freddie Jones back in the SDS days and it was awesome.

I remember Plummer calling the shovel/shuttle pass, whatever it's called, up the middle in the Dallas playoff game down at the goal line. Worked like a champ.

Do they not run these kind of plays now because of the lack of center/guard push?

No. I think it's because you're trying to draw the eyes of the defense into the interior of the line on your base running plays. If you're "trick play" also moves into the middle of the defense, then you're playing right into where you want your opponent to be.

Chris Brown talks about designing and offense in his book Smart Football as essentially two sets of plays--your base offense (i.e., the stuff you do well) and "tendency busters", those plays that you turn to when opponents start making predictable adjustments to what you do well.

I think that the design of our offense is to draw opponents into the area of the field outside the hashmarks between the line of scrimmage and 10 yards downfield. Our "tendency busters" are therefore runs into the area between the guards and deep passes to the corners or down the seams.

That's why we keep running those terrible WR screens for three-yard losses, IMO--they're still kind of a win if your opponent is sitting on those routes, because we're going to be running John Brown behind those opponents in 8 or 10 or 15 more plays.

They have run a TE screen a couple times to good effect

once to Carlson (IIRC) and one to Housler

Housler isnt all the reliable catching the ball down the field, but like last week, if given a short throw on the move, he can run.

Difference is, then we had Larry Centers. But truth be told, I only recall seeing 1 flea flicker this year and 1 end around. Also, no PP21 on offense.

You know what I wished we would use? Unbalanced line sets sometimes. I think that Arians's offensive philosophy is to not show the opponent what you're planning until you absolutely have to (this is why he doesn't like fullbacks), but I think that an unbalanced line actually gives your quarterback more flexibility to make a choice based on the offense.

I just saw the Cards use a "package play" with a run and pass offense in the Chiefs game. Fun stuff.

Start a game with an onside kick. No one would ever see it coming. It might be a first in NFL's history.

Didn't the Saints do it to start the 2nd half in the Super Bowl?
