The NASCAR Cup Series returns to the track after an off week with the Jack Link's 500 on April 27 at Talladega Superspeedway.

The list of potential contenders and winners increases at Talladega, a pack-racing track in which mayhem usually comes complimentary to the final lap of the spring race.

Last year, Tyler Reddick emerged from a crash on the frontstretch of the final lap including leader Michael McDowell and many others, winning the 2024 spring race under yellow.

Here are The Tennessean's expert picks for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega:

NASCAR predictions for Cup Series Talladega race: Here's who wins the Jack Link's 500

Mike Organ's pick:Tyler Reddick, No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota

Reddick watched the Big One happen in his rearview mirror on the 500th mile at Talladega in 2024 and claimed his first win of the season. He heads into Sunday's race without a win this season, even though he's been in the top 5 three times, and it will come again at Talladega.

Nick Gray's pick: Austin Cindric, No. 2 Team Penske Ford

Can't not pick a Ford at Talladega, and Cindric has a good record in pack racing and needs to cash in here to make the playoffs.

Austin Chastain's pick: Michael McDowell, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

Michael McDowell is a strong force on superspeedways, he knows how to manipulate air to put his car in a position to run toward the front, highlighted by starting on pole in both of last year's Talladega races. McDowell gets the job done and scores an important win for Spire Motorsports.

Tom Kreager's pick: Joey Logano, No. 22 Team Penske Ford

Logano has three wins at Talladega and needs a win to clinch a spot in the NASCAR playoffs. Penske had fast cars at Daytona. That should carry over this week.
