It's because Marion is just not smooth, I mean I don't know how to describe it but even if he worked on it I could never see Marion with slick dribbles going around his defender or post up although Tayshaun Prince seems to be able to do just that.. And his horrid shooting technique doesn't exactly help.

I don't think Marion has improved his offense much (although I'd love to see him use that mid range turn around jumper more), but IMHO he is a vastly better defender than he was earlier.

Early in his career, Marion was constantly getting faked into jumping, he'd be out of position because of gambling on steals, and wasn't very smooth in moving his feet. He is much better in all these areas than he once was and has become an underrated defender. He did a real nice job on Parker in Game 2.
