Sort of, there was a lot he did not cover all that well:

1. Were both rookies shooting well the whole day?

2. How was Hill moving. Everyone says he's not the guy he was in the 90's, but not how well he'd moving especially on defense.

3. Was that session a "one time thing" or have they been doing on for a hwile?

4. Are there other players working out besides the four listed?

One random thought... If the Sonics struggle this year as most expect, is it possible KT will have his contract bought out? Having Kurt hanging out in Phoenix in the summer makes you wonder.

He wasn't a reporter. He's a guy who works for the Suns who happened to blog about it.

man, it would be amazing if the Sonics ended up buying out KT's contract and he came back here for cheap.

I think there are restrictions on a team's reacquiring a player that they got rid of within the same season. A few seasons ago, some high-salaried player got bought out and then rejoined his old team, and the league recognized it as a luxury tax scam and made it impossible in the new CBA. I'm obviously fuzzy on the details, but maybe Ollie or someone can fill us in.

Not to mention KT is exactly the type of hardworking vet they want around their young players.

You can't do that anymore.

They changed the CBA to dissallow players from returning to the team they were traded from after Gary Payton did that with Boston.

is that for the entire year? I thought it was just like 3 months or something like that.

eh, it's a pipe-dream anyway.

The only team he couldn't rejoin would be the Sonics. He could sign with the Suns as a free agent.

I believe this is incorrect. According to Larry Coon's FAQ...

"Players who are traded and then waived by their new team cannot be re-signed by their original team for 30 days (during the season) or 20 days (in the offseason) following the trade."

http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#54

Assuming he is waived by the Sonics prior to the season, he could sign with the Suns 20 days later.

No, it's 20 days from the trade.. not the release. So I believe if he were to be cut tomorrow, he'd be free to sign with the Suns.

Let me begin by saying that I have no reason to think this is going to happen, but it's not illogical.

1. Sonics buy two first round picks for $8 million

2. Sonics pay 80% of it.

3. Sonics arrange a buyout whereby they cut their cost by $1.5 million

Let's assume this is arranged in advance. Sonics are out of it, buy KT out and he signs with the Suns. The Suns vet minimum turns out to be the amount of the buyout, so KT doesn't lose anything and he's still available for the playoffs.

It seems pretty far fetched, but weirder things have happened.

It would be a great deal for the Sonics, essentially buying two first-round picks for somewhere around $6 million. But it would be too risky for the Suns to prearrange it.

Also, I suspect Thomas has too much pride to let the Suns jerk him around like that.

It seems almost impossible to prearrange something like this. But as for pride, playing low minutes on the Suns during the regular season can be wearing as well. In any case, getting a shot at making noise in the playoffs might be pretty attractive.

As I said, this seems like a huge longshot. Still, with KT dropping into Phoenix in the summer, I can at least dream it means something.

I don't quite understand all the details and the numbers of what you are saying azirish but I think I get the gist of it. If the Suns FO intended this scenario from the get-go, then it is clever to say the least.

Buyout money plus the vet minimum would probably go a long way to salving that damaged pride.
