Forward Colton Sissons suffered an apparent leg injury during the Nashville Predators game against the Vegas Golden Knights at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.
At the 4:55 mark of the first period, after Sissons backhanded the puck around the boards in the offensive zone, he received a check from Vegas forward Brett Howden. As Sissons spun off the hit, he landed awkwardly on his left leg and immediately went to the ice in pain.
Sissons was attended to on the ice briefly before being carried off. He was unable to support any weight on his left leg as he was taken to the locker room.
This is just more bad news for the Predators, who were officially eliminated from playoff contention with Thursday's 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
Sissons, 31, has been a consistent presence on the Predators' forward lineup for nearly ten years. After being drafted in the second round in 2012, Sissons has 95 goals and 126 assists in 690 career games. He's an excellent defensive center and his 53.7% career face-off winning percentage ranks among the best in the league.
Nashville already has three players on injured reserve this season. Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) and Adam Wilsby (upper body) have been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Captain Roman Josi (upper body) has been out since Feb. 25 and has not been updated since being placed on injured reserve on March 1.
