The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Andreas Englund to a one-year contract worth $775,000 for the 2025-26 season.
The team announced the signing on April 18.
Englund, 29, was claimed by Nashville off waivers from Los Angeles on Feb. 10 and played in 24 games for the Predators, recording two assists, 36 penalty minutes, 58 hits and 33 blocked shots.
The 6-foot-4, 200 pound defenseman offers considerable size on the backend for Nashville. After losing Roman Josi and Jeremy Lauzon to season-ending injuries, Englund played a key role as an injury replacement.
Englund was a second-round pick by the Ottawa Senators in 2014. The Stockholm native has played in 197 games over seven seasons, recording 20 points and 484 hits.
With Englund signed, the Predators now have eight defenseman signed to NHL contracts for 2025-26, including Josi, Lauzon, Brady Skjei, Justin Barron, Jordan Oesterle, Adam Wilsby and Nick Blankenburg.
