After losing both Christian Rozeboom and Jake Hummel in free agency, the Los Angeles Rams finally addressed the linebacker position by signing Nate Landman. He was a starter for the Falcons in the last two seasons and after Atlanta opted not to tender him, he became an unrestricted free agent.
Landman said signing with the Rams was an “easy decision,” reuniting with former Falcons defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake, who’s back in L.A. on Sean McVay’s staff. With his contract officially signed, the details of his deal have been released.
According to Over The Cap, Landman got the veteran minimum from the Rams. He will earn $1.1 million for one season and none of it is guaranteed. His cap hit will be $1.1 million, as well, but the Rams can cut him at any time with no penalty.
Given the structure of the deal, it's a no-risk contract for the Rams. If Landman doesn't perform well in training camp, they can cut him before the start of the season and not take on any dead money.
He'll most likely make the 53-man roster and wind up playing the season in Los Angeles, but if it doesn't go according to plan, there's no long-term obligation on the Rams' part to keep him.
