After the Washington Capitals swept their three-game homestead in D.C., taking down the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Florida Panther, the team traveled to face to Winnipeg Jets on March 25.

Washington (47-15-8) already earned a playoff berth after winning nine of their last 10 games - the first team in the NFL to do so this season. As for Winnipeg (48-19-4), they are still looking to officially punch their ticket to the postseason.

The two first-place clubs with the best records in the NHL drew a sold-out crowd at the Canada Life Centre on Tuesday night. With Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin just seven goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record, there's added star power to the primetime matchup.

Winnipeg fans booing the "The Star-Spangled Banner" on Tuesday night likely stems from President Trump's continuous push to impose a 25% tariff on all imports from Canada and to make the country the 51st state.

Justin Trudeau, Canada's prime minister for the last decade, told reporters last month, "There’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada will ever be the 51st state.”
