If Illinois wins I finish 5th in my pool because so many guys had 5 entries(we used the ESPN contest and I didn't catch you could enter 5 times).

I think the key is will UNC play defense, they've been terrible defensively at times in the tournament, Michigan State would inbound after made baskets and get easy shots downcourt. BUt UNC has a distinct size advantage inside on Illinois that could be troubling.

I also wonder if Illinois can wear down Felton, Brown is the rare opponent who's just as quick as Felton is, he might be able to draw a charge or two.

The big thing I see is Illinois has to be patient and move the ball, UNC has shown repeatedly if you make them play defense for long stretches you will get good shots. hell Wisconin went over 80 on them because UNC gets bored on defense. And whoever McCants guards needs to attack him early and often, he absolutely turns it off and on throughout the game.

UNC would have won by 20 if the refs didn't let the Illini frontcourt mug the Heels defenders on screens.

Congrats to Roy. As much as I have disliked the guy over the years due to the many battles both in recruiting and on the court between Arizona and Kansas, he's nothing but a class act and a great coach who did not deserve all the crap he got over the years.

Get real - you must be drinking the same koolaid poured out by the CBS announcing staff. If the refs would not have been sniffing Sean May's jock all game, the Illini would have won by 20.

Sean May got away with charges, traveling (one so blatant the even Billy PACC-ker mentioned it. And Illini players got called for so many little touch fouls it was pathetic. And how about Roger Powell getting hacked on three straight shot attempts under the basket with no call.

Not the refs fault, but it didn't help. Poor shot selection in the first half was the biggest problem, along with all the touch fouls called on Augustine/Ingram.

But to think it was called even slightly in Illinois favor??? What are you smoking?

Ya ok. Whats Illini's favorite play they call? The 3 point shot! LMFAO! Ive never seen a team shoot more 3's ever. Not in just one game but an entire season. UNC pounded the ball inside, gaurded Illini close on the arc to alter their favorite play. It was pathetic actually. You should thank the refs for allowing you guys to be so close in the game.

Agreed even though Packer was annoying about it, he WAS right those screens were ridiculous. That said, after Felton's 4th foul not once but twice he knocked over Powell running through a screen with no call, so I think they were ignoring screens altogether.

Illinois shot too many 3's, Head and Williams should have been turning the corner at will the way UNC was overplaying to stop the 3. That play Head got picked off by Felton to seal the game was a classic example he had the corner turned but instead of attacking the basket he looked to pass out for a 3, which is precisely what UNC was playing for.

May clearly walked but I think the charges were mainly flops, Powell was doing it over and over and I think the refs just decided to punish him and not even call the legit ones.

That sequence under the basket on replay looked clean to me, first block from behind, then scramble for the ball I think Powell was playing to draw the foul instead of to score and that's why he didn't get anything.

I hate the ACC bias as much as the next guy but overall I thought the game was pretty evenly reffed.

I agree the officiating was equally bad for both sides.. Non-calls on illegal screens for Illinois. Ticky-tack calls for Sean May. Thought I was watching NBA refs.
