The Lacrosse teams of the three major universities in Arizona are all ranked top 25 in the US Lacrosse Preseason Poll
ASU # 5
UofA # 12
NAU # 19

When will these teams go to the NCAA and get the national attention that they derserve?? Wouldn't the Universities want to add more succesful programs to their sports department, and start the trend of bringing NCAA lacrosse to the west?

Never will happen because of Title IX

I meant if they want to bring college lacrosse to the west, it would mean these club teams(UofA, ASU & NAU) would have to go division one, which will never happen because of Title IX.

ASU is a lacrosse power- UA suckzors!

Keep dreaming, the Cats own ASU in lacrosse. Didn't you say ASU was going to beat the UofA last year with the winner making it to the playoffs? We know how that ended :)

As for Nasser, you can Google Title IX and find a lot of information. In general, Title IX requires that women and men be provided equitable opportunities to participate in sports. Title IX does not require institutions to offer identical sports but an equal opportunity to play.

Title IX requires that female and male student-athletes receive athletics scholarship dollars proportional to their participation. If you're going to add a men's team, you are going to have to field another women's team to match.

I believe if Title IX did not include football, we would be seeing schools cutting programs like baseball, wrestling and even lacrosse.

both mens and womans programs exist at these schools, so discrimination would not be a problem... just offering the program will gain more intrest with both men and women anyway

Those are club teams. It would not be feasible for the schools to have them compete as a division sport.

If you are a lax fan try getting it sanctioned in high schools in AZ. There are some damn good high school lax teams out here. Go Desert Vista!

You may know how it ended, I certainly don't. The whole point of my post was "I don't know anything about lacrosse"

my university doesn't have football

they've turned a lot of traditional sports into club - such as mens baseball

at least we're one of the top schools for gender equality in athletics.....................................

our lax team is ranked top 25 though which is nice

go Desert Mountain. and BigCountrypope im sorry, but ASU, U of A, and NAU would all get absolutely rocked by Syracuse, Hopkins, Navy, Virginia like 30-0.

go desert mountain!! in terms of getting rocked.. that is usually true with any new program, but you have to start somewhere. If arizona universities offered lacrosse as an NCAA sport they would be able to recruit top talents with scholorships and over time would be on par with major lacrosse schools like Duke, and Syracuse

i wouldn't go that far - lax is still predominately a NE sport and it will take a lot of time to change that

there are just more kids playing it with NE roots - some will travel west, but the majority will go to traditional schools

it's the reason schools like hobart can field competative teams at that level despite being a tiny school
