NBA and blocking trades

There's been a lot of static in the press about the original three-way Chris Paul trade being vetoed, but I seem to remember it not being something unique. Didn't the league block a trade of Mutombo to the Suns in the Barkley years for some reason before he was moved from Denver to Atlanta?

I guess the hype is mostly because it's the Lakers; how dare they.......!!!
