I haven't seen any posting for this event. Will one be forthcoming or may I start one? Just asking the mods. Time is running short.

I started off great and then went crash and burn Vandy, Duke and Georgetown all out. I had Vandy winning twice, Duke 3 times and I had Georgetown losing in the finals.

I was pleasantly shocked when I checked my results early this morning. I thought I totally crashed and burned, but still have 9 of the 16 teams left. I ain't bragging. My picks sucked.

The ACC and SEC has shown to be by far the weakest of the major conferences.
Big East has 3 teams in the S16, but they've got more teams in their conference and in the tournament than any other. I don't think Pitt, ND, and GT can be ignored.
Big T(elev)en has shown better than I expected.
Big 12 showed they were the tough conference that took more games in the regular season than the Pac10, who appears to be the top guy.

OK - Vandy Sucks....

I love seeing the "top" conference ACC crash and burn. Should have been 2-2 opening day, still are left with one team.

Duke is not a top twenty team.

SEC - :lmao: One team out of 6 left, and that took an OT miracle to do so.

Pac 10 and Big 10 have looked good. Big East decent - but with Villanova, WVU and Louisville left - only Louisville is a serious threat to get to the finals, IMHO.

The #1 seeds all look tough - Kansas and UNC have dominated. Memphis and UCLA have looked good. Only 2 #2's left. Texas looks good. Tennessee not so much.

All the three's left - and all look good. Xavier, Stanford, Wisconsin and Louisville all could make the final 8, Stanford has the toughest game - against Texas.

Memphis is Gawd awful at the charity stripe. That is the reason I couldn't pick them in to go to the final.

Damn it I had Butler beating Tennessee. 5 seniors on that team. Refs needed to swallow their whistles in that game.

I will never pick Gonzaga to win another tourney game.

Anybody know offhand what the Big 12 teams records are this year against the rest of the Sweet 16? I know Texas and Kansas played each other not sure about the rest.

UCLA is 7-1 the loss to Texas, 3 wins over Stanford, 2 over WSU, 1 over Davidson, 1 over Michigan State.

Really if USC hadn't completely bombed the Pac 10 would look a lot better but that one and done for the Trojans makes the whole Pac 10 look a bit weaker.

Other than Texas, Kansas did not play anyone in the final four. The only OOC tourney teams they played were Arizona and USC, both wins.

Texas beat Tennessee by 19, UCLA by 2, Lost to Michigan State by 6, Lost to Wisconsin at home by one, so they are 3-3 (including split with Kansas).

Interesting how Texas' two losses were to the 'weak' Big 10...

Texas also beat tourney teams Oral Roberts and St. Mary's

It's all circular. UCLA lost to Texas who lost to Wisc who lost to Duke by 30! Duke lost to WV in the round of 32. So WV is the defacto favorite to come out of the West.

Russ, any comments on the ref situation with A&M game? Seems to follow UCLA around a bit, doesn't it? I didn't see the game, but people have been posting pics and railing on the (non) calls.

It was a bad call there's a pic that was on the front page of the LA Times that clearly shows Shipp fouled him. THat said there were 18 ft's shot in the entire game, by my count there were 2 fouls in the game called on blocked shots, both on Love(both good calls). More often than not any block was ruled clean right or wrong.

There was a play in the first half where Sloan of A&M grabbed Collison, hooked him and threw him down like a 2 point takedown in wrestling. Both announcers immediately yelled foul on Sloan, but the refs called it on Collison. Replay clearly showed the play, it was for sure a foul and probably a technical on Sloan. I assumed something happened prior to it and we just didn't see Collison foul him but there's footage of that play on the net now and you can see clear as day that Sloan just got mad about something and threw him down, Collison never fouled him.

The refs really let them play, but obviously Sloan should have been at the line at the end there he was fouled.

PTI showed the pic today.

You're lucky I didn't get my picks in on time Wally. I was going to pick all 16 teams that are left. ;)
