The Nebraska women's basketball team is taking part in March Madness. The No. 10 Cornhuskers will play the No. 7 Louisville Cardinals in Friday's first round in Fort Worth, Texas.
Head coach Amy Williams helped Nebraska to their third NCAA Tournament in the past four seasons. After the selection, Williams said she's excited for her team and players.
"I am excited for our players. I love coaching this group of Huskers and can't wait to get back out on the practice court with them tomorrow to get ready for Louisville. We have great respect for Louisville's program and Coach Jeff Walz, who coached me when I was a player here at Nebraska."
Louisville is coached by Jeff Walz. Walz was an assistant coach at Nebraska from 1997 to 2001. His first season in Lincoln was the 1997-98 season.
Amy Williams was a senior guard on that team. That season, the Huskers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Should Nebraska advance to Sunday's round two, the Cornhuskers would play the winner of the TCU vs. Fairleigh Dickinson game.
