Isn't this kind of ironic?

Isn't there some kind of formula that can be applied to the amount of Xbox play being proportionate to the grades earned by college students? And Gates is a major player in the revamping of the American educational system with his Gates Foundation. The elephant in the room is that increased TV and video game use is contributing to the number of functionally illiterate students.

OK, you know I'm not saying that every person that plays video games drops out of school, right?

There is some research that suggests that playing video games may improve certain thought processes etc... but for a huge number of kids video games have replaced things like reading books, playing with real live human children etc... I don't hear anybody saying this is a good thing.

I realize that. Parents should make their kids ration playing time. College can't all be about studying either, so if you're in college and you need a computer, take the 360 deal.

Is it wrong of me to pissed off at this "promotion"? Its ok to call me out on this.

I need a computer and would like another xbox. However, they won't allow me to partake since I am not a student. Tried to claim I was buying for my son but they have to be high school or college and he is neither yet.

I refuse to shop at Best Buy but was going to take advantage of the offer through Dell. I have bought many things from Dell in the past and they could have had my money again but now they will never see another dime from me again EVER. I understand this is a Microsoft promotion but they (Dell) just lost a customer because of this discriminatory marketing/offer. I am sure they don't care.

all that being said I am pretty sure i can find an equal if not better PC at a lower cost and then just buy the xbox and still come out ahead. So I really shouldn't be complaining but.....

I thought so too, until they came out with the "Legendary Hoop Pack" and the "Defiant Stick DLC". Kid's been riding the top of the leaderboards for weeks now. ;)

I wouldn't get too bent about it. It happens all the time: cell phones free with new agreement but full price to current customers. New HD DVR for new subscriptions. All sorts of "loss leaders" to target a new customer or in this case, all those college kids buying Macbooks.

Find someone with a student ID. I'd let you use mine, but I may take advantage of this promotion in August.

its all good. I found a better computer much less expensive through tigerdirect.com than what I was going to get through dell. I will just shell out the $199 for the xbox if I decide I really need another one.

Do not buy Dell or HP computers. You can build your own for significantly cheaper and better by ordering parts from newegg.
