Need help on burning a video that is too big

I downloaded a football game from VHS to my hard drive but it's too big for my dvd burner to handle. How can I burn it on two discs or are there discs that are bigger than 4.7 GB?

Nero offers DVD burning software that allows you to compress files (you can get a movie on a 4.7 gig DVD).

Or, you can upgrade to a dual layer DVD burner (I just got a 16x dual layer DVD burner for 49.95 total).

p.s. It burns dual layer at 2X..... Single layer at 16x

What format is the video in?
